Du Yibiao, 64, has been working in the forests in Hunan for about 26 years. He moved to work at the observation station(观测台)at the top of the mountain in 1996.
Every day, he walks at least 10 kilometers to prevent the fire danger and stop people cutting down trees. As a result, he usually wears out three pairs of shoes every year What's more, he records the water conditions and living things. He has written over 4,000 diaries.
During the first year, there were no trails on the mountain.Every time he walked from the foot to the top, he used a machete(大砍刀) to cut grass to make a way.
