telephone n.电话；电话机
可以缩写为phone。
同时这两个词也可以作动词，表示“打电话”，如:
Please phone/telephone me this afternoon. 请今天下午给我打个电话。

这是一个常见的询问对方电话号码的句型，其中的phone可以用telephone替换；因为询问的是单数名词，所以回答时基本上都是用It’s +电话号码；口语中也常直接回答电话号码。
一般说来，电话号码是直接读出来的，如上面的电话号码读作:five eight seven six two seven five；如果遇到字母O，常读作字母O或zero；如果遇到两个数字相同，除了直接读出数字外，还可借助double来读，
如:644-5529，可读作:six, double four, double five, two, nine。
句型what’s your ... number还可以用来询问对方的身份证号码、车牌号码、房间号等，
如:
— What’s your room number 你的房间号是多少？
— It’s Room Five. 5号房间。
