Alibaba Cloud and the Hangzhou city government announced the launch of ET City Brain 2.0, a cloud-powered and Al-driven urban traffic-management system that aims to increase the city’s efficiency.
After over two years of testing in Alibaba’s home base, ET City Brain has become the new infrastructure(基础设施) for Hangzhou, with a total coverage area of 420 square kilometres, including over 1 ,300 traffic lights. Over 200 traffic officers are connected via mobile phones, enabling them to receive real-time alerts on any traffic-related emergencies.
In version 2.0, the system will optimise the city’s firefighting abilities by providing key information to firefighters, such as water pressure, the number and position of fire hydrants(消防检) in a given area, the location of gas pipes and other details they need to know. The information is instant, making the entire firefighting process faster, safer and more accurate.
City Brain gives meaning to data. By using AI and advanced algorithms(计算程序),City Brain is able to analyse a large amount of data and turn them into useful information in real-time speed.
As a result of City Brain's ability to predict traffic flow, detect accidents and provide instant feedback, Hangzhou has dropped from 5 th to 57 th on the list of China's most congested cities. Hangzhou is probably the only city that can tell you how many cars are on the street at any given time.
In the case of medical emergencies, City Brain is able to change traffic lights, so emergency vehicles like ambulances and fire trucks can head to the scene without interruption, accelerating their arrival time by 49%.
Dr Wang Jian, the head of Alibaba's Technology Steering Committee who invented the term "City Brain" , said the system is designed to empower a city to act quickly and directly. It is more than just about traffic management. It's really about how to make city more liveable at a time of shrinking natural resources around the globe. “It is a matter of sustainability, while using as few natural resources as possible," Wang said, " this is just the beginning."
1.What benefit will ET City Brain bring

Today I want you to get Sadness can be a good friend.
“All well and good,Master Yoda,” you say,“but how does that work ”
First, Sadness is about losing something you care about, whether that’s a loved one,a job,or a football game …so, Sadness shows you what you care about. Would you feel sad if your girlfriend/ boyfriend left The answer tells you how attached you are to this person.
Along the same lines, experiencing the Sadness of loss helps us to appreciate what we still have. Funerals are painful occasions, and they are great for bringing people back together, burying old conflicts, healing wounds, but it only works if you show up and feel the Sadness and let it bring you together with the others there. One who can’t bear Sadness will tend to shy away from love, commitment(承诺), and real passion,in order to avoid grief, and that’s an empty life.
Similarly, losing a job can help you appreciate that you still have your health. Losing your health can bring loved ones together. Losing money can help you to focus on what really matters to you, your values, your sense of mission, your spirituality.
Lastly, Sadness has authenticity(真实性) to it. Grieving has a way of slowing you down and bringing you back to the moment. It forces you to let go of your worries about your to-do list and next quarter's numbers and your fast-paced life and really be with yourself t your feelings and the people around you. This is important today because we can get so lost in our smart phones and emails and plans and lose sight of people, relationships, and dreams.
So, Sadness is the kind of friend who can help you to stay grounded and real,to honor what’s important and let go of what's not, and we all need that kind of friend.

A.Why Sadness is Your Friend

"Acknowledged, Detective. This is my..."
He hung up and told the driverless UNATS Robotics car to get him down to the railway station as fast as it could, angry with himself and with Ada—whose middle name was Trouble, after all—for making him deal with a robot before he'd had his breakfast. The name had been his ex-wife's idea ,something she'd insisted on.
He hadn't thought his ex-wife in years. Well, months. Weeks, certainly. She'd been a brilliant computer scientist at the UNATS Robotics school at the University of Toronto. Now she was settled in her own research lab in Beijing, providing the kinds of software solutions for robot applications.
He itched to wiretap her, to read her email or listen in on her phone conversations. He could have done that when they were still together, but he never had. If he had, he would have found out what she was planning.
He could have talked her out of it.
"And then what, Artie " said the nagging voice in his head. He couldn't stop her from chasing her own dream—making the smartest robot in the world, especially with their little daughter in her belly.
"Shut up!" he told the nagging voice.

答案: In a few minutes, he was at the front gate of the railway station. Ada opened the door for him. He stepped out of the UNATS Robotics car hurriedly to catch the bullet train for Beijing, where his ex-wife, a top computer scientist lived. During the journey, he constantly considered how to persuade his ex-wife to quit her research, which could get her into trouble. Clearly, it was not an easy task. She had chased her dream for ages. The train pulled in at the railway station. He began to look for his ex-wife, who had promised to pick him up.
There she was, standing by a teenage girl who had the same blue eyes as his. Artie walked up to them slowly. With so many words to say, he felt a knot in his throat. At last, he looked into their daughter's eyes and said, "Hi, my lovely girl!" His voice was trembling slightly. "Daddy! Mommy has told me everything. You don't need to worry about us anymore. Yesterday, she worked out the smartest robot software successfully." Artie turned to his ex-wife in disbelief. She nodded, "I could never achieve my dream without your support." Artie hugged them both, thinking to himself, "Never stop a person who is chasing dreams!"
