More than 80 colleges are creating a website where students will be able to apply to dozens of them. Some of the top names in higher education are joining the effort under a group called the Coalition for Access, Affordability and Success, whose goal is to simplify the application process, especially for low-income students.
The website not only gives students one place to send their applications, but also gives them tools to get started years in advance. On the site, students will be able to request advice from college admissions offices and they can create digital portfolios(文件夹) with the help of their teachers and instructors.
Members of the coalition(联盟) include private universities such as Harvard and Stanford and public counterparts such as the University of Virginia, University of Florida and Ohio State University. The colleges came together to fix a problem: Complex admissions processes deter students from applying and those who come from low-income families can't afford the instructors and classes within reach of their wealthier peers. High schools, for example, can already buy software to help instructors track their students through the application process, but many can't afford it.
More than 600 colleges now accept the standardized Common Application. Unlike the Common Application, which aims to create a uniform application process among schools, the new website aims to help students dive deeper into many distinct applications. It will give them a place to store their checklists and essays and invite anyone to provide feedback and edit.
Each college will have its own portal(入口) where students can submit applications, but they'll all be accessible through the same site. The portfolio tool will let students add any extra information they want. Artists can include samples of their work and musicians can link to performance videos.
1. What is the aim of the Coalition for Access, Affordability and Success
A. To make applying for college easier.
B. To give students more choices of subjects.
C. To donate money for low-income students.
D. To increase the quality of higher education.
2. What do we know from the passage about Harvard University
A. It is the founder of the website. B. It is the most famous among them.
C. It is a public counterpart. D. It is a private university.
3. What does the underlined word "deter" most probably mean
A. Assist. B. Prevent. C. Protect. D. Separate.
4. What can we infer about the software mentioned in the 3rd paragraph
A. It is hard to use. B. It is very practical.
C. It is very effective. D. It is very expensive.

Beverly Cleary has sold 85 million copies of 41 books and—if those numbers weren't impressive enough—she turns 100 on Tuesday. Though the world was a very different place when Cleary was a child, she has always maintained that kids pretty much stay the same—which explains the ongoing popularity of her beloved characters, like Ramona Quimby, Henry Huggins and Ralph S. Mouse.
Cleary was in her early 30s and working part time in a bookstore when she sat down at a typewriter to see if just maybe she could write a book for kids. She had worked as a librarian before World War Ⅱ, and she wished she'd had books for young readers about children living everyday lives.
"I think children want to read about normal, everyday kids," she told NPR in 1999. "That's what I wanted to read about when I was growing up. I wanted to read about the sort of boys and girls that I knew in my neighborhood and in my school... I think children like to find themselves in books."
Her first book, Henry Huggins, came out in 1950. Henry had a friend named Beezus, and Beezus had a mischievous(爱恶作剧的) but lovable little sister named Ramona. Over the next five decades, Cleary took Ramona all the way from nursery school to the fourth grade. Cleary says when she was writing Ramona, she took inspiration from a little girl who lived in the house behind her as a child.
Her books have hooked generations of children, including a young Jeff Kinney, who grew up to become the author of the "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" series.
"I must have been about 8 or 9 years old when I first read Beverly Cleary," Kinney recalls. "The book that really grabbed me was Ramona Quimby, Age 8. She looked feral. I needed to get to know this character."
"Most kids have parents, teachers, bullies — we all experience these things, Kinney says. "And Beverly Cleary tapped into that. Her work is still as relevant today as when it first came out."
Now, generations of children have been fortunate enough to enjoy her stories of Klickitat Street.
1.What can we infer about Beverly Cleary's works
A.They are about adults' ordinary lives.
B.They interest and delight young readers.
C.They receive much criticism from other writers.
D.They are based on Cleary's childhood experiences.
2.What gave Cleary inspiration for Ramona's stories
A.A neighborhood girl. B.Her work as a librarian.
C.Her fourth-grade daughter. D.Her work experience in a bookstore.
3.What does the underlined word "hooked" in Paragraph 5 mean
A.Described. B.Praised. C.Surprised. D.Attracted.
4.Which of the following can best describe Beverly Cleary
A.Brave and patient. B.Generous and honest.
C.Productive and influential. D.Considerate and optimistic.

There were many famous poets from different eras in Chinese history, and thousands of their poems are still read and appreciated today.

When it comes to teaching people about poetry, Li Dingguang, the show's academic advisor, suggested that teachers should explain more about the beauty of the poetry from both the aesthetic (美学的) and emotional sides, and guide the students to lose themselves in the poems' rhythmic (有节奏的) and rhyming lines.
"Although the amount of ancient Chinese poetry in the textbooks of primary and secondary schools has increased, many students still learn them for exams," Li Dingguang told China. . "Therefore, it's important to help students truly appreciate the artistry and fun of poetry."

第二节 (满分25分)

Last Christmas my older sister Jane got a unicycle (独轮脚踏车) she had requested. I thought it kind of strange, wondering why she would want something like that. She did ride and practice for a while, but eventually stopped.
Curious, I tried it, finding it very hard and thinking it impossible for a weak girl like me to learn. Since our dining room of our old house had low beams (屋梁), I used them like monkey bars to practice riding, which helped a lot. Because I thought it was really fun, I practiced every spare moment I had, teaching myself to go forwards, backwards and to turn. Practicing was something I loved to do in my spare time, but it did get discouraging when I fell. After months of practicing, I finally made it.
One morning, our teacher Maria excitedly announced that a school talent show was to be held to raise money for charity. She encouraged my classmates to sign up for it. I'm not always the best in front of a crowd, which was why I was very nervous when I meant to put on my performance by doing a hula hoop (圈) and riding a unicycle on stage. But I overcame my fear and entered myself for the talent show, for which I practiced a lot in case I should mess up.
My routine (整套动作) was to do the hula hoop from my neck, down to my stomach, then to my knees. After that, I was to ride my unicycle forwards and backwards on stage. Lastly I would do the hula hoop while riding the unicycle. I was to do all this accompanied by my carefully selected music. I wondered what people from my seventh grade would think of my performance. With my friends inspiring me, I built up my confidence. On the night of the show, many people found out there was going to be a unicycle performance, so more came, even the headmaster.
注意:续写词数应为150左右。
I was both nervous and excited when it was my turn. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
When I got home, I couldn't wait to check my mobile phone left at home. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

第二节
答案:whose; finest; be chosen; curiosity; When/ As; pointed; to find; gently; surrounding; on
set out to do sth是固定搭配,意为“出发去做某事”。

One possible version:
I was both nervous and excited when it was my turn. I had a deep breath and then rode my unicycle towards the stage. When I heard the music, I started to put the hula hoop in my neck. Carefully, I moved it down to my stomach. Everything seemed good. The audience applauded for me when the hula hoop was about to my knees. And then, an unlucky thing happened. I didn't ride backwards firmly so I tumbled. At that moment I felt my heart was broken. However, after a very short rest, I stood up with my red face. I tried again and finally, I made it. Seeing this, all the audience cheered and applauded happily.
When I got home, I couldn't wait to check my mobile phone left at home. My deskmate Mary sent the performance video to me and expressed that she was so proud of me. There were also many messages from my classmates and teachers, which encouraged me a lot. Not only could I challenge myself but also I helped my school raise money for charity in this performance.
