Unit 3 I’m more outgoing than my sister.
Teaching Material Analysis:
本单元教材以I`m more outgoing than my sister. 为中心话题。根据本单元教学内容和学生知识结构及认知特点,本单元的教学目标确定为:1、掌握词汇及形容词比较级的形式。2、掌握形容词比较级的一般用法,特殊用法。3、能用比较级的句型表达不同的或相同的人物、事物的特征。4、学生学情分析:调查学生的喜好,从喜欢的话题入手。根据不同的能力布置不同的课前准备。让每一个学生上课都有出色的表现。
Section A所呈现的是人物之间的特征比较,人物的个性比较。通过不同的比较,展现形容词比较级的一般用法,重读闭音节结尾的,辅音字母加y结尾的、多音节双音节形容加more的用法。句型A+比较级+than B。…as+形/副+as…。be good at 等等。借用日常交际用语,层层铺垫,展开听说读写,培养自主学习的能力。一切的活动设计都围绕比较级展开。Section B具体让学生发表自己对朋友要求的观点,比较朋友和自己的相同点,不同点。谈论个自的喜好,性格特征。通过比较的方法,达到对人生完美境界的自我追求。

Step 1. Lead in:
1. Daily greeting.
2. Ask a student to introduce herself/himself.
Step 2 Pre-task
1.Show some pictures to Ss.
Say,They are twins. What do they look like
Ask Ss to use the words:tall,thin,long hair,short hair,heavy, short and so on.
2. Brainstorming. Think about the description words about appearance and personalities as many as possible.
Appearance: Height, Build, Hair, Eyes, Nose, Clothes
Personalities: quiet, friendly, outgoing, funny, smart, shy, hardworking, polite, easygoing, helpful..
3. Finish 1a. Match each word with its opposite.
4. Can you describe with opposite words
Ss use the words to make sentences.
Eg: A: Sara has long hair.
B: Lucy has short hair.
C: Sara has longer hair than Lucy.
D: Lucy has shorter hair than Sara.
5. Look at the picture in 1a and answer the questions.
1. Who are these people
2. What are they doing on the stage
Step 3. While-task
1.Then listen to the recording. Ask Ss to number the twins. Check the answers.
2.Listen again, and answer the questions.
3.Point out the sample conversation in Activity 1c.
Say,Now work with a partner. Make your own conversation about the twins.
3.Ask several pairs to say one or more of their conversations.

1.Point out the two columns and read the headings:-er,-ier and more. Then point out the words in the box. Read.
Say,Now listen and write the“-er”and“-ier”words in the first column and the words that use “more” in the second column.
2.Play the recording and check the answers.

1.Point out the picture and the two boxes with the headings Tina and Tara.
Say,Listen to the recording. Write sentences in the boxes.

3.Listen again and find out the comparative words.
Step 4 . Post-task

1.Let’s make a report about the differences between Tina and Tara.
2. Point out the chart in Activity 2c and on Page 81. Say,Make your own conversations according to the information. Ask pairs to continue on their own.
3.Correct the answers.
4.Make students scan the conversation in 2d.
5.Teach and then make Ss role-play the conversation in pairs. In this part,student A will be Julie. Student B will be Anna. As they talk,move around to monitor their work. Offer language or pronunciation support as needed.
5.Read the dialogue in 2d and answer the questions below.
