宾语从句（object clause）
We know him.

由一句话充当宾语的句子称之为宾语从句。
He often asks questions after class.

从句的翻译有什么特点？
当宾语从句具有疑问意义时，用 if/whether引导，不省略。 译为“是否”
只用whether 不用if的情况
一前一后，做主语，连否定
1.在不定式前,只用whether 不用if
We haven’t decided whether to go there.
2.在介词之后,只用whether 不用if
It depends on whether it is going to rain.
3.做主语,只用whether 不用if
Whether he will come is not decided.
4.与or not 连用,只用whether 不用if
He asked me whether or not I agree with him.
if意为“假如，如果”时，引导条件状语从句，而whether不能引导条件状语从句。
如： If you go to the party，you will have a great time.
注意
三、由特殊疑问词引导的宾语从句
当宾语从句是特殊疑问意义时，用 特殊疑问词引导，不省略。
