Unit 7 Films (Comic strip & Welcome to the unit)
1、 教材分析
(1) 教材的地位及作用
本单元的中心话题是“电影”,与前面的第五单元“艺术世界”和第六单元的“电视节目”以及后面的第八单元“侦探故事”属于同一板块“娱乐”。从语法角度来说,七、八单元又可以划分为一个板块,第七单元的综合技能部分出现了定语从句,为第八单元的定语从句教学做好准备,由此可见本单元在整个教材中启动承上启下的作用。
(2) 教学目标
本课为本单元的第一课时,主要让学生认识并能够使用表示各类电影的词汇,能够简单谈论电影和电影工作者,能够感知so… that及such … that句式并能够简单运用。通过本课的学习,要引导学生只有努力学习,才能实现自己的梦想,发挥教育的功能性。
1、 语言知识目标
正确使用和掌握以下词汇和重点句型
单词及短语: western, industry, in your dream, so … that, such … that, action film, romantic, science fiction, story-teller, script, be suitable for, enter the film industry.
句型:Would rather do sth.
Though I like acting, I’d rather be a director.
I’m so good that I should be in Hollywood instead.
Millie is such a good storyteller that she can write exciting scripts.
2、 语言技能目标
认识并能够使用表示各类电影的词汇;
能够简单谈论电影和电影工作者。
3、 情感态度目标
引导学生只有努力通过学习才能实现自己的明星梦,发挥教育的功能性。
4、 学习策略目标
进行合作学习,积极参与课堂教学活动。
(3) 教学重难点
能够掌握重点词汇和谈论电影以及电影工作者。
二、学情分析
九年级学生心智发展相对成熟,对电影这一话题也不陌生,但由于九年级面临着升学的压力,学生接触电影的机会不是很多,认知电影类型的专业术语有一定的困难;同时由于舆论宣传造成学生对明星的盲目崇拜,却忽视了明星背后辛苦的努力。因此在教学中不但要教给学生与电影有关的知识,还要能正确引导学生,正确对待明星梦,提醒他们只有努力奋斗才能实现自己的梦想。

五、教学步骤及目的
Step 1 Warm up
Greet the students and let students talk about his/her hobbies, then ask a student: do you like watching films Are you a film fan Get a student to match the names about films.
【设计意图】:通过交谈,导入话题;让学生尝试搭配英语电影的名字,激发他们的求知欲。
Step 2 Presentation
1.Show the videos and learn the new words about films: romantic film, cartoon, action film, science fiction film, comedy. G ive more information about each type of film.
2.Do Part A by saying Sandy has found some pictures of different types of film. Let’s help her write the correct name under each picture. Check the answers with a student.
【设计意图】:通过视频让学生感知各类电影,用英语介绍电影,给学生更多的信息输入,为后面的游戏做好准备。
Step 3 Task1 Guessing game
Choose a student from one group, he or she uses language or body language to describe a type to film, get another student to try to guess the name. If someone in the group can guess the correct answer, the group will get one star as a reward.
【设计意图】:通过学生的表演,活跃课堂气氛,同时让学生能够描述各类电影,锻炼学生的听说能力。
Step 4Task2 Pair work
1.Introduce the different jobs in the film, then listen to the conversation between Sandy and Kitty, answer the questions:
What would Sandy like to do in the film industry
Who does Sandy think would be suitable for entering the film industry
Why does she think so
2.Check the answers with some students, then let students practice in pairs to make their own conversations, use the conversation as a model. After three minutes share some pairs.
【设计意图】:通过结对活动,让同学们了解电影工作者的一些特点,锻炼学生的口语能力。
Step 5 Task3 Group work
1.Present the photo of Zhao Wei and say Zhao Wei plans to make a movie, but she is not sure what she will make, she also wants to choose some students to be the actors, actresses and other workers for the film.
2.Ask students to work in groups to give Zhao Wei some advice about making films and recommend some actors, actresses or workers for her.
3.Check some groups by asking a student of each group to report it.
【设计意图】:通过小组合作活动,让同学们学会交流、学会分享信息,同时锻炼他们的写作能力。
Step 6 Task 4 Listening
1.Say: our old friends Eddie and Hobo are talking about the film, too. Let’s listen to their conversation and answer the questions:
1).Why does Eddie think Hobo is lucky
2). Does Hobo think so
3). Why does Eddie think he should be in Hollywood
2.Play the tape for students to listen and find answers, check the answers with some students.
【设计意图】:通过漫画学习,让同学们体验英语学习的快乐,同时锻炼学生的听力能力。
Step 7 Summary
1.Sum up the content learnt in the class.
2.Tell students to work hard to achieve their dreams.
