教材分析：
本单元的教学核心项目是“描述人的外貌”（Describe People），涉及到讨论人的身高、体重、发型、面部特征及其着装等语言项目。教材内容围绕着描述人的外貌特点展开，让学生学会谈论人的身高、体重、发型、面部特征及着装特点，以人的外貌特征为主线，兼顾交际功能的学习，以一种循序渐进的生活化的学习程序，引导学生学会用英语介绍自己或他人的外表特征。这些内容与学生的实际生活密切相关，易于引发学生运用简单的英语进行交际和交流，所以在学习活动中，学生能通过交换对不同人物的描述及看法，促进学生之间和师生之间的情感交流，增进情谊。
学情分析：
本班的学生经过半年多的英语学习，有了一定的英语基础知识和听、说、读 写的能力；同时，学生们对英语学习有着较浓厚的兴趣。经过新课程理念的熏陶及实践，有了初步的自主、合作、探究的能力。
教学目标：
I．知识目标：词汇:curly straight tall short heavy
thin of medium build/height
句型：What does he look like
He is tall/short/thin/heavy.
He is of medium height/build.
He has curly/straight hair.
Ⅱ.能力目标：
Practice listening and speaking skills
III．情感态度与价值观：
学会观察和描述周围的人物，学会友好地描述别人的形象，互相了解，增进友谊。
教学重点及难点
重点：
Master the new words, phrases, and know how to describe people.
难点：
掌握正确运用have动词和be动词描述人物外貌的方法。
教法渗透：
1、教学设计思路：
《新目标英语》中的具体语言目标是通过各种各样的Tasks来实现的；学生需要运用具体而特定的行动来完成一定的交际任务。因此本节课将始终引导学生通过完成具体的任务活动来学习语言，让学生为了特定的学习目的去实施特定的语言行动，通过完成特定的交际任务来获得和积累相应的学习经验，让学生在用中学，在学中用（Learning by using, learning for using）。
2、教学方式和手段：
任务型教学法、多媒体辅助教学、情景交际教学法等。
3、学习方法指导：
本节课将在课堂活动中把学生分成学习小组，小组内分成互助小组，让他们围绕着课堂任务分工合作，在活动中相互探讨、相互交流、相互合作，从而获得知识、技能和情感体验，发展他们的能力。
教学流程：
Step 1 Greetings and warming-up
T:Hello, boys and girls. I have a gift here ,do you like it Do you want to get it If you do well, you will get a flag, the best group will get e on!
(设计意图：通过课前礼物诱惑振奋学生精神，让学生积极准备投入到紧张的学习中来。)
Step 2 Leading in.
Today we’ll learn Unit 9 What does e look like (板书)
Who is your favorite star Ask a few students freely.
(设计意图：由学生喜爱的明星自然引入本节课话题。)
Step 3 Presentation:
一：Show the vedio of Pan Changjiang and the photos of Yao Ming and the music of Li YUgang to introduce height .
use three students to practice.
二：Show three photos to introduce biuld .
Use simply drawings to practice.
三:show the photos of the teacher’s family to introduce hairstyle
ask the students to talk about their hairstyle.
(设计意图：以学生感兴趣的视频材料、歌曲、明星照片和教师的家庭照分别引出身高、体型和发型的描述方法，提高了学生的学习兴趣，同时利用学生本身和简笔画对所学新语言点加以巩固运用。)
Step4 Pair work
Talent show (能说会道)
let them ask and answer one by one in group about their friends’looks.
Let see which group say quickly and correctly.
(设计意图：通过让学生小组谈论身边的朋友的外貌，在复习运用了所学语言点的同时，又增进了友谊.增强了合作意识。)
Step 5 Group work
Let the students work in groups to make a sitcom, each group choose one to finish. Then ask two groups to act out.
(设计意图：通过小组活动，让他们围绕着课堂任务分工合作，在活动中相互探讨、相互交流、相互合作，从而获得知识、技能和情感体验，发展他们的能力。)
Step 6 Match the words with the pictures
Let the students finish activity 1a.
(设计意图：通过课本活动1a,让学生巩固所学新知，组内合作交流，学生订正答案，多方训练学生能力。)
Step 7 listening
Task 1 My daughter has three new friends , David, Sally and Peter,do you want to know what they look like Let’s see a vedio and finish 2a.
Task 2 Do you want to know them well Let’s watch and listen carefully again. Then finish 2b.
(设计意图：通过视频制作来播放听力，巩固所学。指导听力技巧。)
Step 8 Writing
Play a guesing game. Let the students write down some sentences to describe their best friend. Others guess who he\she is.
(设计意图：通过游戏形式训练学生写作能力，巩固所学新知。)
Step 9 Competition
Each group choose a picture and answer the question,if you can’t , the others will help you.
(设计意图：让学生以小组为单位来完成竞赛，及训练了他们合作探究的能力，又让他们在兴趣中复习巩固了本节课重点。)
Step 10 One breath English
Let the students finish one breath Englsh.
(设计意图：通过训练学生一口气英语，学生进行情感教育，每个人都是特别的，不要以貌取人。)
