Language Points
1. Both Sam and Tom can play the drums, but Sam plays them better than Tom.
both,adj. & pron.
e.g. You can see different kinds of flowers on both sides of the road.
both 作代词时,可单独使用,也可以用于“both of ...”
e.g. —Which one do you want to buy
—I want to buy both.
Both of his legs were badly hurt.
All of the students like this game very much.
both...and...
e.g. Both Beijing and Shanghai are large cities of China.
both...and...
拓展:遵循“就近原则”的结构有:not only... but also...
e.g. Neither I nor my mother likes meat.
Either you or he is wrong.
Instant Training
练习1: The two books are ______ about English. You can choose
________ of them to read.
A. all; both B. all; either C. both; either D. both; neither
C
练习2: Both Sandy and Millie _____ interested in cooking. They often learn to cook at weekends.
A. am B. is C. are D. be
be interested in doing sth.“对做某事感兴趣”。

2. And she also sings more loudly than Tara.
loudly, adv.
loudly 由“loud ( adj.
e.g. Don’t speak loudly in the library.
Actions speak louder than words.
3: It’s impolite for each of us to speak l in public places.
oudly
