People often ask how I decide where to go, and I usually get hesitated with my response, as I don't actually have an answer to that. For more than three years, I have been making movements with the universe, traveling from one location to another at seemingly random intervals.
A friend of mine posted a message online asking if anybody was interested in a job teaching English in China. So I jumped on a coming plane. Walking into my first class, I was bombed by 16 strange children who couldn't understand a single word out of my mouth. When I walked out of my last class, six months later, I had made a personal connection with them. Some of my students could barely speak Chinese or English. But somehow, through determination and force, we were connected.
Every class was not only a lesson in English, but in good fellowship, being a role model, being a parent, and being a friend. I became a father to some, an older brother to others.I was loved and adored, feared and hated. I had to learn discipline, and not only how to deal it out, but how to discipline and conduct myself as a role model. But in between the discipline, I had to make learning a fun experience. And they forgave me when I yelled or got upset. And when they lost their tempers or bruised their knees or missed their mommies, I forgave them, kissed their bruises better, and gave them a shoulder to cry on.
Teaching English in China is, by far, the most emotionally rewarding and fulfilling thing I've ever challenged myself to do. I have walked away from this job with a softened heart, knowing that I have made a difference in so many lives. I want that. I want my teaching to be reciprocal because they taught me how to unconditionally open my heart and how to be a more loving and patient person.
28.What can we learn about the writer before he came to China
A.He didn't have a fixed job.
B.He was a professional writer.
C.He worked in a travel agency.
D.He taught in a language school.
29.What was the situation like when the author met his students for the first time
A.Hard. B.Exciting.
C.Touching. D.Inspiring.
30.What can we infer about the author from Paragraph 3
A.He was casual and patient.
B.He was responsible but sensitive.
C.He was cautious but bad tempered.
D.He was self reflective and considerate.
31.What does the underlined word “reciprocal” in Paragraph 4 most probably mean
A.Beneficial. B.Interacted.
C.Encouraging. D.Acceptable.
D
There's no place like home.” This English saying has much truth in it: the best place to be is surrounded by our treasured possessions and our loved ones and with a roof over our head. And for many young adults, it's the only affordable place to stay; somewhere where they can receive first class service from mum and dad. But this comes at a price!
In some countries, it's quite traditional for people in their late teens and early 20s to live at home with their parents, but in other places, flying the nest to start their own independent life is very desirable. But there's been a growing trend, in the UK at least, for young people to return home to live—or not to leave home at all.
A survey by a price comparison website found that 18% of adult children in the UK said they were moving back home because of debt, compared with 8% last year. More young people had lost their jobs, and others couldn't afford their rent compared with the previous year. So, it's easy to see why they're increasingly becoming home birds.
The BBC's Lucy Hooker explains that many returning adult children enjoy home comforts. But for the ‘hoteliers’, that's mum and dad; the survey found the average cost to them has gone up sharply, and that they are sacrificing luxuries and holidays to look after their ‘big kids’. Emma Craig from Money supermarket says “they're trying to look after their children more. If your child comes home and you see them struggling financially, you feel more awkward asking them for rent or to contribute. It tugs on your heartstrings more.”
With parents splashing out around £ 1,886 on takeaway food, buying new furniture and upgrading their Wi Fi for the benefit of their offspring, it's easy for the returning children to put their feet up and make themselves at home. That's before they learn a home truth—that one day it might be their own kids who'll be checking into the hotel of mum and dad!
32.Which proverb might present the young British's living conditions
A.A lazy youth, an awful age.
B.East or west, home is best.
C.Two heads are better than one.
D.Nothing comes wrong to a hungry man.
33.Which might be the reason for the increase of home birds
A.The popularity of living independently.
B.Looking after their old parents.
C.The increase of unemployment rate.
D.Their parents' financial offer.
34.What's Emma Craig's attitude towards home birds
A.Doubtful. B.Uncertain.
C.Objective. D.Understandable.
35.What is the last paragraph mainly about
A.Returning to live with parents comes at a price.
B.Parents are willing to receive their returning children.
C.Flying the net is becoming popular at present.
D.Home birds take it for granted to live with their parents.

28.答案与解析:A 考查推理判断。根据第一段中的“For more than three years, I have been...seemingly random intervals”可以推断,作者在来中国之前并没有稳定的工作,故A项正确。
29.答案与解析:A 考查推理判断。根据第二段中的“Walking into my first class,I was bombed by 16 strange children who couldn't understand a single word out of my mouth”可推知,作者第一次见到学生时,情况是艰难的,故选A。touching意为“动人的,令人同情的”;inspiring意为“鼓舞人心的”。

34.答案与解析:D 推理判断题。根据第四段第三至第五句“Emma Craig from Money supermarket says ‘they're trying to look after their children more. If your child comes home and you see them struggling financially, you feel more awkward asking them for rent or to contribute. Hi,Linda,
I’m sorry to learn that you are having such a bad time.Actually, most people will feel homesick and anxious when they leave home and come to a new place, especially a foreign country. So don’t worry too much.
Here are some tips for you.First, you’d better try to change some of your habits so that you can get used to the new environment as soon as possible.Second, make more new friends, who can share their hobbies and ideas with you.You will feel less homesick with many friends around you.Third, you should take part in some social activities. It will help you learn more about the local customs and cultures.
I hope my advice will be useful.
Yours,
Li Hua
