1) both表示“两者(都)”；（注意：当both作主语时谓语动词用复数形式）
Both are wrong. 两者都错。/Both are right. 两者都对。
They both like swimming. 他们俩都喜欢游泳。
Wang Lin and Li Ping both stood up.=Both Wang Lin and Lin Ping stood up. 王林和李平都站起来了。
2) 短语 both of 意为“两者都…”，用于肯定句中。如：
Both of the students are Young Pioneers.这两个学生都是少先队员。
3) both还可与and 连用。如：
Both she and her sister are good at English.
她和她姐姐都擅长英语。
Mary can both play the guitar and play the violin.
玛丽既会弹吉他又会拉小提琴。
4) all 意为“三者或三者以上都…”。如：
My brothers and I are all at school.我的兄弟和我都在上学。
5) 短语all of 意为“所有人(或物)都……”。如：
All of the animals in the zoo look very lovely.
动物园里所有的动物看起来都很可爱。
注意：both和all在句中用作同位语时，通常放在行为动词之前或be动词之后。试译： 我们都很累。 误：We all are very tired. 正：We are all very tired.
