For five decades fans have been going to the cinema to see their favorite spy.
On Nov 13. James Bond came back with his 24th movie Spectre (《幽灵党》). As usual, he spends the movie trying to save the world, this time from SPECTRE, a mysterious and evil organization.
In the movie, UK actor Daniel Craig, 47, plays the iconic(具代表性的) British spy again, But as Charlie Higson wrote in The Telegraphs Craig plays Bond as a "bruised and battered(受尽折磨的), damaged goods version". This modern take on the classic British gentleman character partly conies from Britain's recent economic recessions(衰退).
He wasn't always this way, though. According to The Telegraph. "Each new incarnation of Bond fits a decade and speaks to each new generation.
James Bond was first introduced in books by UK author Ian Fleming in the 1950si and his movies first became popular in the 1960s. This was the time after World War II and the end of the British Empire, when a new type of British man was needed.
When Britons were waking up to the fact that they were perhaps no longer so great, Bond was "the ultimate escape", according to Higson. He traveled around the worlds defeated villains(坏人), ate foreign food, drank find wines, and spent time with fine women. "This was the time of Playboy magazine, which told us how to he a modern, sophisticated(老练的) man about town, and the Fleming books helped with the same male needs," Higson added.
Bond then began to change. In the 1970s Bond became more lighthearted and funny. Actor Roger Moore, the 1970s Bond, described the character's humorous side: "To me, the Bond situations are so ridiculous. I mean, this man is supposed to be a spy and yet everybody knows he s a spy. Then, after a decline(下滑) in the 1980s,Bond came back as the perfect hero for the "self-obsessed(以自我为中心的)"1990s in the UK, when every magazine and advertisement seemed to be telling British people how to live the James Bond lifestyle.
This couldn't last forever, which brings us back to the James Bond of Spectre. But the fantasy of being a gentleman who travels the world and saves it is still powerful enough to make the movies successful. As The Telegraph said, "James Bond is just the fantasy hero we need to pull us out of this mess."

Alibaba started taking the lead in China by connecting big Chinese manufacturers(制造商) with big buyers across the world. Its business-to business site, Alibaba, com, allowed businesses to buy almost everything. Alibaba's advantage wasn't hard to judge: size. Alibaba is just big, even by Chinese standards. Its markets attract 231 million active buyers, 8 million sellers, 11. 3 billion orders a year-and Alibaba is just the middleman. It encourages people to use its markets—not charging small sellers a percentage of the sale.
If you want a quick look into the influence of Alibaba on daily Chinese life, take my experience. I moved to Beijing a year ago and quickly got tired of visiting small stores across the crowded, polluted city of 20 million people in search of new electronics, bathroom furnishings, and anything else my wife wanted, You're looking for what exactly Why not try it " my Chinese teacher asked me one day. With that, my wonderful new relationship with Alibaba began.
Alibaba's original business-to-business model now is second to consumer buying. Chinese retail(零售) buying makes up 80% of Alibaba's profits and leading that group is Taobao, with 800 million items for sale and the most unbelievable selection of things you'll ever find. is Alibaba's other big site, where you can find brand name goods from Nike and Unilever near the lowest prices.
What I have a hard time explaining to friends and family back in the U. S. is how China has gone beyond traditional shopping—big-box retailers especially—in favor of online purchases on Taobao and a few other sites. In smaller towns than Beijing, where big retailers have not yet traveled, shopping online is shopping, and shopping is Taobao.
I have a list of some of my recent purchases on Taobao for a sense of how wide the marketplace is. Almost everything arrived a day or two after ordering with free shipping. I'm not even a big buyer, because I need friends to help me search the Chinese language site. When I was searching my purchase history on my Chinese teacher s iPad, which helps me buy goods, I looked through with great difficulty about 10 of her purchases for every one of mine.

Are you good with money I learnt to be careful with it during my childhood. My father would give me some pocket money and tell me it should last for a whole week. So, I learnt I had to save some if I didn't want to run out of cash quickly. No surprise there: my clad was an accountant!
It's never too early to become money savvy(会理财). That's what British personal finances expert Martin Lewis thinks. He was part of a successful campaign to include financial education on the school curriculum in England. It will be embedded(植入) in maths and citizenship education. This includes children from 5 to 16 years old.
Lewis says: "We desperately need to break the cycle of financial illiteracy(无知) in the UK--one of the causes of our current economic crisis and a huge contributor to continued misselling epidemics(违规销售)."
Being careful with money pays off. Banks in Britain recently found themselves having to pay a large number of people who were persuaded to spend money and buy insurance policies they didn't need. Many wasted their money on investments which were not for them. Few have the patience to read the small print.
The British say "take care of the pennies and the pounds will take care of themselves". It means you have to watch your daily expenses and not just the big purchases in your life such as houses.
Martin Lewis has made millions from his website which advises people to be thrifty(节俭) and refuses any suggestion that he is mean. The expert says in an interview with the English newspaper The Daily Express: "the better you are with your cash, the better your life can be. People think I am telling them to stop spending money but I am simply telling them to spend it wisely."

A healthy lifestyle includes many choices. Among them, choosing a balanced diet or healthy eating plan is of the greatest importance. But how do you choose a healthy eating plan Let's begin by explaining what a healthy eating plan is.
A healthy eating plan that helps you manage your weight includes different kinds of foods you may not have considered. If "healthy eating" makes you think about the foods you can't have, try refocusing on all the new foods you can eat.
Fresh, Frozen, or Canned Fruits—don't think about just apples or bananas. All fresh, frozen, or canned fruits are great choices. Be sure to try some fruits from other countries, too. How about a mango, a juicy pineapple or kiwi fruit What you should pay attention to about canned fruits is that they may contain added sugars. You'd better choose canned fruits packed in water or in their own juice.
Fresh, Frozen, or Canned Vegetables—try something new. Don't eat the same kinds of vegetables all the time. You can try to eat different kinds of vegetables, which is important for a good diet. When trying canned vegetables, look for vegetables without added salt or butter. You can go to the produce department(果蔬部) and try a new vegetable each week.
Calcium-rich foods —you may firstly think of a glass of low-fat or fat-free milk when someone says "Eat more dairy products." But what about low-fat and fat-free yogurts without added sugars. There is a wide variety of flavors and they can be a great dessert instead of those with a sweet tooth.
What's more, you don't need to give up your favorite comfort food. You can enjoy your favorite foods even if they are high in calories, fat or added sugars. The key is eating them only once in a whiles and balancing them out with healthier foods and more physical activities.
The point is that you can figure out how to include almost any food in your healthy eating plan in a way that still helps you lose weight or maintain a healthy weight.
1.According to the passage, what is the most important about a healthy lifestyle
A.Having a healthy eating plan.
B.Eating something that you like.
C.Asking for a low-fat diet.
D.Improving special diets.
2.The author says "try something new" in Paragraph 4 to tell us that ________.
A.vegetables are important for our health
B.we cannot choose fruits with added sugars
C.a good diet should include different vegetables
D.we'll keep fit if we are interested in non-sweet fruits

A.By eating them in the morning.
B.By taking fat-free yogurts in place of dessert.

"Surprise!" was the first thing I heard when I opened the door. My family and friends were all smiling at me. There were colorful balloons all over the house, a big poster saying "HAPPY BIRTHDAY'', and of course a cake with 12 candles. It was a wonderful feeling. I knew that I had finally turned twelve and I might possibly get the thing I wanted most.
I saw my mom and dad coming towards me with a small box which seemed to be a birthday present. When I opened the box, I couldn't believe my eyes. I had really gotten a mobile phone! Throwing myself into their arms, I let out a cry of joy, "Thank you! I love you guys!"
"You're welcome. We knew this was going to make you happy but we didn't only get you this because you turned twelve, but also because you are doing well in school. We expect you to keep getting good grades."
"Of course I will." I said confidently.
As soon as I got to school the next morning, I was showing off my phone and asking everyone for their number. It was cool how I got so many contacts on the first day.
It felt like I didn't even exist in that class anymore. I wouldn't pay much attention to the teachers because I was too busy on my phone. However, I didn't get caught using it.
I am pretty sure that the teacher did notice that I stopped paying attention to her because a week later we took a test and I failed. What was worse, my mom had to sign the test.
It was hard to show my mom the test. She was used to seeing A's and B's on my tests. Finally, I showed it to her, and she couldn't believe it. She was angry but most of all, she was disappointed.

I'm Li Hua, a student from Class 7, Grade 2. The reason why I am writing to you is that I want to get the valuable chance to be one of the volunteers at the English Culture Festival. There is no doubt that it will not only improve my spoken English, but also offer me a good chance to make more friends!
My advantages are as follows. I'm an outgoing girl and enjoy communicating with others. Besides, I have won many prizes in various English speech contests, which gives me an advantage over others in spoken English.
I sincerely hope that you can take my application into consideration. Looking forward to an early reply.
Yours truly,
Li Hua

答案:
Realizing the reason for my failure, my parents started to dislike the fact that I had a phone. They said they had noticed that I never paid attention to them. It was like I had my own little world. So they thought we didn't communicate as much with my phone. They regretted having given me a phone, which made me ignore the family and study.
Then I started to wonder if I was wrong. A week later I tried going a whole day without a phone and it didn't go that badly. I had so much fun because I was actually spending time with my family and paying attention to them. From that day, I had a different opinion towards phones. Phones really take you away from the rest of the world. I' m not saying that phones are bad and not to use them, but you do have to spare some time to spend with your family and not get stuck with your phone all day.
