Journey into the world's largest and most visited museum in the world, the Louvre. From its castle foundation to its current state as home to some 38, 000 treasured works of art, discover their stories and history, and spend quality time with the Mona Lisa on this one of a kind storytelling experience. On this live online tour, our expert Louvre guides from their home in Paris to yours, will help you understand the architectural transition (建筑的过渡) from castle to art gallery, and the important works of art.
From its plinth (底座), the ancient statue of Venus de Milo plays an important role in the modern culture. But why is she considered one of the best examples of Greek sculpture And what secrets does she tell in her figure of ancient Greece Our experts will answer these questions and tell you all the little details some observers may miss.
Moving on to other works we will visit the Winged Victory of Samothrace generally held as a competitor in beauty to the statue of Venus we just explored. Our guides will explain the discussion over its origins, other images inspired by her figure, and where, how, and why she traveled in the year 1939.
After a look at a few more masterpieces we will continue our way through the halls, moving closer to a painting so famous that it attracts close to six million visitors each year. The time spent looking at her is only 15 seconds — though we will spend much more time in her presence through the storytelling of our expert guides. The painting hardly needs a name — but that painting is the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci.

After graduating from art school with a degree in illustration (插图), I was at a standstill and didn't know how to work in the art industry. Back then, I was still living in Laguna Beach, California, so I decided to try my hand at plein air (野外写生) painting. This was something I had only done once or twice before, and with little success.
After a week, I fell in love with the work of Edgar Payne, William Wendt and the like, and at that moment I knew this was what I wanted to do with my life. I told my friends and family that I would not be going into the field of illustration, but into the field to paint from life, in plein air.
After one month of painting every day, from sunrise to sunset, I was selling here and there, mostly right off the easel (画架), but I quickly burned through my savings, and soon after, lost my apartment and moved into my car parked along the Pacific Coastline. My family tried sending me money but I always refused. A few more months passed, I was underfed and had no gas to move my car, but I kept painting.
One day, with a dozen paintings laid out by my feet in South Laguna with a serious sunburn and hungry stomach, a woman walked by, complimented my work and then bought all of my paintings! Turns out this woman was a big art collector. Then she generously gave me a show in her home a couple of weeks later. I nearly sold out at the show and then I got picked up by a famous gallery in Laguna Beach the following week.
This was back in 2008 and so many years later, I'm painting more than ever. I will still pick up an illustration job from time to time, but painting plein air is what I love more than anything — this is how I spend my time. I have work in a couple of galleries here in Oregon, but I do most of my sales through my website, which is updated (更新) daily.

C. Lent a hand to. D. Gave a voice to.

Astronauts will have to deal with unexpected illnesses and injuries. There may be a doctor when astronauts are in space. But that person could also get sick. But today, a “Dr. AI” is nowhere close to reality.
Right now, the best machines are tools like VisualDx. Health care workers use this software in hospitals. The user answers questions about a patient. These can include symptoms (症状) and features like age or sex. The program then narrows down possible diagnoses (诊断). For skin conditions, VisualDx can also study photos of someone's skin. It's now being used to help people to do check-ups.
Art Papier is a dermatologist and chief executive officer at VisualDx. He and his team designed the system for use in deep space. It works on a laptop without the Internet. The software doesn't have to consider every possible diagnosis. An astronaut is unlikely to be suffering from tropical (热带的) disease, for example. Instead, it will pay attention to medical conditions that astronauts may likely develop. These include rashes and kidney stones.
Douglas Ebert is a spaceflight physiologist and space-medicine scientist with KBR, Inc. in Houston. He is part of a group developing a software tool called the Autonomous Medical Officer Support, or AMOS. It will help walk astronauts through first aid and medical exams. An early version of it uses pictures and videos. These can teach new learners how to do an eye exam, for example.
The researchers tested an AMOS model with about 30 people who were not doctors. Those people learned how to do several medical procedures. They then came back three to nine months later to do the procedures again. They could use the software, as needed, to guide them. This worked in the same way as how an astronaut would use AMOS for preflight training and in-the-moment support when an unexpected situation happens.
32. How does VisualDx help doctors at hospital
A. By treating some disease.
B. By answering patients' questions.
C. By looking into people's symptoms.
D. By sending patients' pictures to doctors.
33. What do Art Papier and his team center on
A. A software that can diagnose astronaut-related disease.
B. What diseases astronauts can deal with by themselves.
C. How to prevent disease from spreading in space.
D. Medical conditions that are commonly seen.
34. What was the researchers' purpose of testing AMOS
A. To simplify medical procedures in space.
B. To make it possible for astronauts to use.
C. To make sure its test result was correct.
D. To get it accepted by the public.

Not everyone can make it as a professional artist. Although some people believe artists are gifted, it takes much more than that to succeed. 36 There are other things that artists need.
Artists need to be passionate (热诚的). They need to be willing to practice regularly and must love art and feel the need to create. 37 Just like any job, in order to do it well, you need to always be working and willing to learn.
38 They need to find something to create that makes them stand out from other artists. Nobody wants to see the same thing over and over again. They need to continuously come up with fresh new ideas.
Communication skills are also important. Of course, visual (视觉的) communication is a big part of art. However, oral (口头的) communication is important as well since you'll need to be able to sell yourself. 39 If you want to profit (获益) from your work, you'll need to talk to and network with others.
Patience is also important. Art takes not only talent and skills, but a lot of patience as well. 40 Art involves knowledge of the tools, colors, and different methods used and these things don't come naturally. Painting especially takes a lot of practice, so it's necessary to be persistent
A. Artists also need creativity.
B. They need to have artistic talent.
C. Just being able to draw well is not enough.
D. You can't expect to be a popular artist overnight.
E. You'll need to communicate with others to market your work.
F. Only drawing or painting sometimes does nothing for your career.
G. They gain new experiences that may be useful to inspire them to create new artwork.

Many years ago, in the small Polish town of Pinchow, there lived a trader named Leib. He worked hard, but times were bad. He never had enough money to buy presents for his children or a silk dress for his wife, Sonya. Sometimes he couldn't even buy food or wood to burn to keep them warm.
One cold winter day, Leib made an important decision. He would leave home for the big city of Krakow. Maybe he could earn more money there. He gave his wife all the money he had and, with a heavy heart, said good-bye to her and his children.
In Krakow, Leib put all of his energy into his work and had amazing success. After twelve months, he had six hundred zlotys.
But every day, he missed his family more. “I cannot go on another day without Sonya and my children,” he said, and decided to go home. He already had enough money to take care of them for a very long time.
On his way home, Leib stopped in the town of Rozka. He was tired and needed to rest. Fearing there might be robbers (强盗) in the town, he decided to bury his money before going to the hotel. Near a small wood house that seemed to be deserted (遗弃), he dug a hole and, looking around to make sure no one saw him, buried his money.
But the house was not deserted. The old man who owned it was watching through his window. When Leib left for the hotel, the old man went out and dug it up.
Next morning, when Leib went to get his money, it was gone. Looking around sadly, he noticed the nearby house. “Whoever lives in that house must have seen me bury the money,” Leib thought. “But if I accuse (指控) him of stealing it, he will call me a liar, so I have to come up with an idea that will make him give me my money back by himself.”
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150左右;
Leib went to the house and knocked on the door.

第一节
One possible version:
Dear Eric,
I'm writing to tell you a piece of good news.
The museum in our city is going to offer seal cutting courses. A famous seal cutting artist will provide her first class from 3 p. m. to 5 p. m. next Saturday. During the course, you will not only come to know the history of this Chinese traditional art form but also complete your own seal cutting work with the help of the teacher.
I believe it will be a great chance for you to come with me! I'm looking forward to your reply.

第二节
One possible version:
Leib went to the house and knocked on the door. “The owner of the hotel told me you are the wisest man in town. Will you help me ” he said to the old man. The old man was flattered. “Tell me what I can do to help you,” he said. “Fearing robbers, I buried my money — six hundred zlotys — in a secret place last night,” Leib said. “Now I have received one thousand zlotys. Should I bury it in the same secret place or in another for greater safety ”
“It would be best to put your newly received money in the same place,” the old man said. Leib thanked him for his advice and said, “I will do as you suggest.” In order to get more zlotys, the old man needed to make Leib believe it was safe to bury the one thousand zlotys in the same place. So when Leib left, he hurried to rebury the money where he'd dug it up the night before. When darkness fell, Leib went to the hiding place. He got back all his stolen money and left.

41. C。根据上文中的Does art heal 及本句中的such as a painting of a rainbow可知,此处需填一个与艺术有关的词,故artworks(艺术作品)符合语境。
42. A。下文中的The shape is ...
Catriona Chennell's room is filled with her ...
48. B。49. C。由上文中的her room at Shands at the University of Florida, the hospital及本句中的but only here has she been helped to可知,Cat曾在其他两所佛罗里达的“医院(hospitals)”住过,但是只有在这里她才得到帮助去“制作(make)”自己的艺术作品。
50. A。 由上文中的What a big difference及本句中的to get her mind off unhappy things可推断,艺术创作使Cat不去想不开心的事,即对她而言是起作用的,故选helps。
51. B。由上文中的to get her mind off unhappy things可知,Cat说:“当我进行艺术创作的时候,我能‘忘记(forget)’疼痛”。
52. D。 Cat is just one of thousands of patients to have been可知,Cat只是AIM项目“援助(reached)”的众多病人之一。
53. A。由上文中的by artists offering project ideas and instruction 及本句中的activities like painting, writing and singing可知,在AIM项目中,艺术家们鼓励病人去参加一些“有创造性的(creative)”活动,例如绘画、写作和唱歌。
54. C。 For years, AIM has been making hospital experiences less可知,AIM项目使得住院经历不那么“可怕(frightening)”了。

56. to return。 encourage sb. to do sth.
57. watching。
