Ⅰ. Warming-up and revision
Get three different students with different appearances.A boy who is heavy and tall, a boy who is thin and short ,a boy who is medium height.
设计意图:引起学生的学习兴趣,了解人物的外貌特征,(即不管外貌如何在不同的游戏中都能获胜)的对比培养学生的情感和态度:不要以貌取人(Don’t judge by appearance)。
Set the two students as examples to teach the following words:heavy, tall, thin, short
Lead in the target language:
1. What do you look like He’s really tall. He has long straight hair.
2. What does she look like She’s of medium/build.
Ⅱ. Presentation (Section A 1a)
1. Match the words with the people in the picture. (1a)
T:Now please look at P49, Use the letters to match the people in the picture with one of the numbered words. Write each letter next to a numbered word. You can use some letters more than once. Point out the sample answer. (Keys:c, f, a, a, d, h, e, b, g, e)
Leave two or three minutes for students to read the words and phrases in 1a.
2. Lead the students to be familiar with the adjectives of describing people's appearance.
(1). Teach the words height,curly,etc by showing cartoon characters.Later practice the target language:“What does he look like He is really tall.” Pay attention to the usage of "be "
(2). Show a picture of a cartoon girl to teach the body parts: ear, face, hair, eye, nose, mouth. Later practice the target language:"What does he look like He has long straight hair." Pay attention to the usage of the word"has".
(3). Show pictures to teach the words about hair style. Pay attention to the usage of the word"has".Then teach the words:a beard, a moustache, glasses。

1. Read the conversation and recite it.
2. Practice like the conversation according to some pictures.
Ⅳ. Listening practice(1b)
1. Look at the picture of 1a, listen and fill the blanks in the picture. (1b)
Listen carefully and fill in the blanks and find Amy’s friend We will listen twice.The first time, just listen.The second time,listen and fill in the blanks.And say the look of Amy’s friend.( He's really tall.And he has curly hair.)
2. Check the answers one by one.
V. Guessing game
1,Divide the whole class into two big groups to have a competition. Each group choose a student to come to the blackboard. The two students face the class and back to the blackboard. They are not allowed to look back.The teacher stick two pictures on the blackboard. later the whole group students describe the person in the picture. The student guess who is the group talking about.Teacher offer language help if necessary.
Pay attention: Each student in the group only say one sentence to describe the appearance. Get as many as the group members into this game.If they can not guess the people from appearance, help them to describe about their characteristics or jobs.
2, Ask some volunteers to describe a student in class and others guess who he/she is talking about.

In this period we have learned how to ask and describe people's appearance. Please always remember: Don't judge people by appearance.
