Project
Dubbing a film scene
Preparation
1. Watch the video clip of Forrest Gump. Pay attention to the lines, intonations and emotions.
2. Read Tips about voice acting in B on Page 13.
(1) Speak clearly and try to stay in time with the character speaking
in the film.
(2) Use your body language to get into character and help the
feelings come naturally. Even though only your voice will be
heard, you need to act with your whole body.
3. Try dubbing the excerpt of Forrest Gump.
Preparation
Group work: Choose a film scene to dub.
1. Consider the following ideas (Part A on Page 13)
(1) One person can play more than one character.
(2) The lines should be clearly spoken and not too difficult.
(3) The characters speak more or less the same amounts.
(4) Two or three minutes.
2. Recommend some film scenes.
3. Each group decide a film scene to dub. Find the video clip, watch it
and practice dubbing.
Implementation
1. Practice in groups.
(make improvement in accuracy, fluency, emotion, etc.)
2. Students perform their dubbing in groups.
Evaluation
1. Evaluate and comment other groups’ dubbing.
(accuracy, fluency, matching, emotion, effect, etc. )
2. Challenge other groups’ dubbing.
Homework
Students record their dubbing and submit the audio to the teacher.
Homework
1. Read this article aloud.
2. Finish the workbook.
