Amazing Movies
Are you looking for some movies You've landed on the right place. Let's take a look at the list I've collected.
A Beautiful Mind A Beautiful Mind is the story of John Nash, a mathematician who went on to win the Nobel Prize for his Game Theory. This movie brings his whole journey on screen — from his beginning to his downhill ride. The first half is all about his rise to fame while the second half shows how he slowly falls into madness. After many years of fighting, he finally is victorious.
I. Q. The story is about an auto mechanic who falls for Albert Einstein's niece. The only problem is that she is engaged(已订婚的) to someone else. Fortunately, Einstein likes him. The young man pretends to be a physicist to run after her, but things don't go as he has planned. If A Beautiful Mind was a little too heavy for you, I. Q. would be the perfect fit. It's a light drama that is funny and heartwarming for the most part.
Good Will Hunting Good Will Hunting is a touching tale of a troubled young man called Will Hunting who is gifted with a natural talent in mathematics. However, he is struggling to find his identity. He can solve any math problem, but not the one he seems to be struggling with in his life. His life seems to be getting only worse until one day he meets Sean, a therapist, who helps him find direction in life.
Creation Creation is a story of a famous scientist, Charles Darwin, best known for his theory of evolution. This movie attempts to bring his struggling days into focus, the time when he was dealing with the loss of his daughter and was suffering from hallucinations(幻觉). At the same time, he was working on a book called On the Origins of Species, which he finally completed. All in all, Creation is a great historical drama.

On my first round-the-world trip, I planned everything out in advance. I knew where I was going, how long I was staying there, and how I would get there. But halfway through I ditched the plan and went with the flow. Over the years, how I plan my travel has changed. Now, I am a last-minute planner and seldom travel with any plan.
Traveling without a plan gives you great flexibility(灵活性). Since nothing is booked far in advance, you can turn to something different when you change your mind or something better comes along. I changed my plans to meet a friend on an island in Thailand and stayed for a month. I wouldn't have had that experience if I had kept to my planned schedule.
However, most new travelers are the opposites — they overplan their trips. Their whole journey is scheduled. Two days here; three days there. I understand why people do that. When time is short, they want to see as much as possible. They don't want to waste a single second.
Actually, it is better to slow down your pace. Spending more time in one place allows you to feel the rhythm of life better. You can travel at a more relaxed pace, see more than just the attractions, and open up your schedule to the happy accidents of travel.
When I first made my travel plan, I tried to include everything in it. Then I realized it was unrealistic, and revised my plan. I made a list of one or two things I wanted to see each day and spaced everything out. It's an important lesson to learn. I think the best trip plan is to work out the general path you want to take, book the first few nights of your trip, and let your travels unfold from there. This way you are never locked into a certain place if your feelings change.

When "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" was first shown to the public last month, a group of excited animal activists gathered on Hollywood Boulevard. But they weren't there to throw red paint on fur-coat-wearing film stars. Instead, one activist, dressed in a full-body monkey suit, had arrived with a sign praising the filmmakers: "Thanks for not using real apes(猿)!"
The creative team behind "Apes" used motion-capture(动作捕捉) technology to create digitalized animals, spending tens of millions of dollars on technology that records an actor's performance and later processes it with computer graphics to create a final image(图像). Yet "Apes" is more exception than the rule. In fact, Hollywood has been hot on live animals lately. Already, a number of films, including "Water for Elephants," "The Hangover Part Ⅱ" and "Zookeeper," have drawn the anger of activists who say the creatures acting in them haven't been treated properly.
In some cases, it's not so much the treatment of the animals on set in the studio that has activists worried; it's the off-set training and living conditions that are raising concerns. I'm Jeff Logan, president of Logan Luxury Theatres Corporation. I'm very sorry to tell you many cinemas are at risk of closing permanently(永久地). That's something we would hate to see happen.
Watching the newest box office movie and eating a big bucket of popcorn are an experience that many of us have enjoyed for a very long time. We all have fond memories of going to a theatre on our first dates or the first movie we saw with our children. A movie theatre is so important to the fabric of the local community. It's a place where we all gather, no matter what our interests and ages.
But how much longer will classic theatres remain open Just like other industries, movie theatres have been hit hard by the pandemic(流行病) and are going dark. The entire industry is being controlled by the pandemic, because the studios don't want to release their new movies until all the theatres can be open. As we all know, the theatres can't do well and can't get back to full 7-day a week at full speed operation without new movies to play.
Recently, the Luxury 5 Cinemas in Mitchell reopened for the weekends. However, like many theatres, it is only operating at about 10 percent capacity. Since opening, several new safety measures have been put in place. Block off every other row. People are asked to leave three seats between them and the next group. Staff spray the theatre with disinfectant(消毒剂) after every show. And sanitizer stations can be found throughout the theatre.
Even so, some people still aren't comfortable going to a movie theatre yet. I fully understand that. Anyhow, I just hope we must do something else to help out our local theatres, like taking part in a new national proposal called "Save Your Cinema".
1. What does the underlined word "fabric" in Paragraph 2 refer to
A. The typical feature. B. The basic structure.
C. The public support. D. The common vision.

Winning an Oscar isn't all about the acting ability
While the awards claim they recognize the top performances from around the world, a new study has found that you're more likely to win an Oscar if you're an American acting in a film that portrays the American culture. ①_____ British actors are more likely to take home an award.
Researchers say the trend suggests viewers are more likely to perceive a performance as "truly brilliant" if they are members of the same social group as the actor. It can be seen, perhaps most famously, in the case of Leonardo DiCaprio, who finally won a long-awaited Oscar in the 88th Academy Awards in 2016 for his role in The Revenant, which follows the story of an American frontiersman. ②_____ In 2014, Matthew McConaughey won an Oscar for his role in Dallas Buyers Club, and Jennifer Lawrence took an award home in 2013 for Silver Linings Play book. ③_____ The findings come from a new study published in the British Journal of Psychology. The team investigated a total of 908 merit prize winners: 97 winners and 383 nominees for the Oscars, and 97 winners and 331 nominees for the BAFTA. Overall, they found that US actors dominated the awards, claiming over 50 percent of the prizes across the Oscars and the BAFTA.
④_____ When the performer and judge shared membership within a particular social group—for example, being American—the actor was more likely to win. As a result, American actors were found to win 52 percent of all BAFTAs, and 69 percent of all Oscars while British actors won just 18 percent of all Oscars, and 34 percent of all BAFTAs.
⑤_____ In the Oscars, Americans who performed in films about non-US culture accounted for just 26 percent of the award winners. But, those who performed in films about American culture made up 88 percent of the winners.
A. In recent years, many actors have cast themselves as frontiersmen.
B. The subject matter played a role, too, according to the researchers.
C. And, the same applies to London's BAFTA.
D. But they also noted a trend within social groups.
E. But the trend also stretches back throughout the years.
F. Things are different in Britain.
G. Daniel Day-Lewis won an Oscar in 2008 for his role in There Will Be Blood.

The Bicycle Ride
Jennifer, a wealthy Swedish girl, came to India to get a portrait(画像) made by Rajesh, a poor but very gifted Indian artist.
Never before had Rajesh seen a more beautiful woman from the Western world. By the time the portrait was finished, the two had fallen in love. They had fallen so deeply in love that they got married according to Indian tradition.
Sadly, the time came when Jennifer had to leave in order to complete her studies in Sweden. Thousands of miles separated the two but their feelings for each other never changed. They kept in touch through letters, which they exchanged almost weekly with each other. Jennifer missed her husband so much that she offered to buy him air tickets, but he refused. He decided to finish his own studies first. He promised that he would do anything he could to see her again on his own.
After Rajesh finished his studies, he sold what he had except his paintings and brushes. However, the money he made couldn't afford a flight ticket. Not allowing the difficulty to stop him from seeing his wife again, he made up his mind to use what he had to realize his dream.
All he could afford was a cheap and used bicycle, which meant a very long bicycle ride, half round the world.

A
If A Beautiful Mind was a little too heavy for you, I. Q. would be the perfect fit. It's a light drama that is funny and heartwarming for the most part"可知, I. Q.这部电影既有趣又能让人放轻松。故选A。
A Beautiful Mind is the story of John Nash, a mathematician who went on to win the Nobel Prize for his Game Theory"和第三部电影中的"Good Will Hunting is a touching tale of a troubled young man called Will Hunting who is gifted with a natural talent in mathematics"可知, John Nash和Will Hunting是数学方面的专家。故选B。
Are you looking for some movies You've landed on the right place. Let's take a look at the list I've collected"可推断出,作者写这篇文章是想介绍几部电影。故选C。
B
由"halfway through…how I plan my travel has changed"可知,"我"原本事无巨细地制订了计划,但后来有所改变,所以此处应是放弃了计划。故选C。
I think the best trip plan is to work out the general path you want to take...This way you are never locked into a certain place if your feelings change"可知,作者建议制订一个简单的旅行计划。故选A。
Instead, one activist, dressed in a full-body monkey suit, had arrived with a sign praising the filmmakers: 'Thanks for not using real apes!' "可知, 动物保护者聚集在好莱坞大道是为了向电影制作者表示感谢。故选D。
2.段落大意题。通读第二段可知, 第二段主要是关于数字化人猿的创造。故选B。
3.词义猜测题。根据第三段画线前的句子"One nonprofit organization, which monitors the treatment of animals in filmed entertainment"以及下文"Already, a number of films, including 'Water for Elephants,' 'The Hangover Part Ⅱ' and 'Zookeeper,' have drawn the anger of activists who say the creatures acting in them haven't been treated properly."
故选A。
D
A movie theatre is so important to the fabric of the local community. It's a place where we all gather, no matter what our interests and ages.
The entire industry is being controlled by the pandemic, because the studios don't want to release their new movies until all the theatres can be open. 故选A。
Since opening, several new safety measures have been put in place. Block off every other row. People are asked to leave three seats between them and the next group. Staff spray the theatre with disinfectant after every show. And sanitizer stations can be found throughout the theatre.
Anyhow, I just hope we must do something else to help out our local theatres, like taking part in a new national proposal called "Save Your Cinema".

When the performer and judge shared membership within a particular social group—for example, being American—the actor was more likely to win.
In the Oscars, Americans who performed in films about non-US culture accounted for just 26 percent of the award winners.
