A
“I feel unlikable, lonely and hopeless,” said Lisa, a confused teenager from a loving home. “It seems that nobody wants to become my friend. What's wrong with me ”
Like Lisa, many of us experience loneliness. The truth is that all people, no matter what their ages or characters are—even the most outgoing, popular and wealthiest—experience loneliness at least sometimes. It's healthy and natural to want to be with people who care about us. After all, we've all heard “No man is an island.” Actually, we all need others in our lives.
Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, explained that if we want friends, we must be friendly and reach out to others. But it has risk. Because we are often afraid of rejection (拒绝), many of us are unwilling to reach out to others. We adopt a safer way and prefer to wait for others to make friends with us. But if we want friends, we've got to get beyond this.
If making friends is your goal as well, you need to consider taking some measures(措施).
Be willing to take the initiative (主动权). If you see someone whom you would like to know, don't wait for her/him to make the first move. Get close to her/him and begin a conversation. Let her/him know in a non-aggressive (无攻击性的) way that you are interested in being friends with her/him.
Reach out to those who are lonely. When you see someone at school sitting alone, go over and talk to her/him. And don't let popularity decide whom you reach out to. You'll often be surprised at the beautiful qualities behind a shy appearance.
Ask questions. Start your first conversation by asking this possible friend what she/he likes to do or asking about her/his family. Be sure to ask questions that cannot be replied to with “yes” or “no”. For example, don't ask “Do you have a dog ” Instead, say “So, tell me about your pets.” Avoiding asking “yes” or “no” questions makes your possible friend not end your communication with a one-word answer.
1.Why does the author begin the text with Lisa's worry

B.Putting ourselves in danger.
C.Being treated in a rude way.
D.Losing interest in communicating.
3.What can we know from Paragraph 5
A.Popular people are often easy-going.
B.Just waiting for chances will help you make friends.
C.A proper manner is important in making friends.
D.Shy people are hard to talk to.
4.Why does the author suggest not asking “yes” or “no” questions
A.It is considered unfriendly.
B.It will make a bad first impression.
C.It shows the poor quality of the speaker.
D.It isn't good for keeping a conversation going.
B
School is, waking up early in the morning, whether it is hot or cold, putting on school uniform and rushing to the bus stop to catch the school bus and getting used to the words “Hurry up! You will be late!” You reach school and again the same words “Hurry up!” do not let you rest in peace.
Throughout the day, it is a mad rush because of a busy schedule. One period is over, another starts and you are ready for the next subject. When you forget to do your homework, you try to sit at the back and pretend to be looking for something on the floor or in your bag. You are lucky if you are not seen and it is bad luck if you get caught. If you are not lucky, be ready for a good scolding during break or after school. If you are lucky and your teacher is in a good mood, you may be left with a warning.
However, school is not so boring all the time;the games, the library period and the break are welcome time when you can relax, joke and have fun with your friends. There are some teachers, too, who can make school very exciting. For example, Mr. Taneja has a typical style of talking, making us always hooked(着迷的) in the playground.
School can be fun, real fun, when picnics and field trips are organized. We wait for them eagerly and keep on requesting our class teacher to organize one for us. Debates, quizzes, cultural programmes and other extra-curricular activities also add luster to an otherwise boring school life. Fun increases after real hard work and you tend to enjoy more than those who have been lazy and have wasted their time. I think this period of your life is the most wonderful one—full of dreams and hope.
5.What does the author think of the school life
A.Boring and stressful.
B.Stressful but interesting.
C.Strict and fearful.
D.Annoying but funny.
6.What can we conclude according to the second paragraph
A.Some students hope to get away with their fault.
B.Teachers should be more patient with their students.
C.Some students dislike finishing their homework.
D.Teachers should reduce the amount of homework.
7.Which subject does Mr. Taneja probably teach at school
A.Physics. B.English.
C.Chemistry. D.P.E.
8.The underlined word “luster” in the last paragraph has the closest meaning to“ ”.
A.difficulty B.value
C.pleasure D.trouble
Each fall brings a lot of opportunities that attract you to become involved in your school community. 1
2 Clubs are probably the easiest and most direct route to getting involved. Typically, high schools have clubs that focus on a wide variety of topics. Are you attracted to German films 3 If you answer “yes”, then you are in luck! There are probably clubs for that. Usually, the best way to join a club is attending an after-school fair at the beginning of the school year.
Try out for a sports team! If you have any interest in a sport your school offers, there is absolutely no harm in having a try. The worst that can happen is that you don't make it and have to try next year. Sports teams are a great way to make friends with people who have similar interests. 4 Sports provide a boost to physical and emotional health.
Volunteer! 5 It could be answering phones in the main office at school or travelling abroad to provide international aid. My point is that volunteer work can be an incredible way to discover passions and shape your personality.
All in all, if you're looking for a fresh start, now is the time! Choosing to get involved in your school community by joining a club, trying out for a sports team, or volunteering is undoubtedly something you will not regret.

五、A
因为我们通常害怕被拒绝……”,由此可推断此处的risk=rejection,故选A,A项中的Being refused与文中的rejection呼应。
根据第三段中的“making us always hooked in the playground”可知,Mr.
2.A 主旨句。 故选A项。
根据段首的“Try out for a sports team!”
