Floating listeners
Sir Patrick Moore was a well-known astronomer with a good sense of humor. Some years ago, he received an invitation to give a series of talks on the radio. One day, at the end of his talk, the host advised him to play a joke on listeners on April Fool’s Day. Moore agreed.
Over the next few days, Moore had no idea about the joke.
However, on his way to the radio station on 1st April, he got a good idea when he noticed some children jumping up and down in the street.
He arrived at the station and gave his talk. Before ending his talk, he told his listeners that they would float if they jumped at exactly 9: 47 a.m. Because the gravity of the earth would be reduced as a result of the nearness of the planets Jupiter and Saturn.
A few minutes after 9:47 a.m., the listeners finally realized that it was just a joke played by Patrick Moore.
