It is a disease that damages the lungs.
Norman Bethune was born in Canada in 1890.He was a famous doctor and a nice man.
In 1916, Norman Bethune graduated from the University of Toronto. With a lot of hard work, he found new ways to help people with T.B. – a disease that damages the lungs. He also invented tools that remain in use today.

Because he knew many people were dying in the war.
Norman Bethune is well known for helping the Chinese people in the Anti-Japanese War. In 1938, he made a decision to go to northern China because he knew many people were dying in the war.Bethune organized hospitals, taught doctors and nurses, and showed people how to give first aid.
