一、形容词比较级、最高级的不规则变化

【注意】
1. farther和further都可以表示距离、时间上的“更远；更往前”，但表示“进一步”只能用further。如：
The farther / further hill is 5 kilometres away. 那座更远的小山在5公里以外。
Susie will go abroad for further study next year. 明年苏茜将出国留学。
2. older意为“年长的；较旧的”，在句中可作定语和表语，既可用于修饰人，也可用于修饰物；elder作名词时意为“长者；长辈；比……年长的人”，作形容词时意为“年纪较长的；老练的”，在句中只作定语，不作表语，只能用于修饰人。如：
As you get older，you will realize what I said today. 随着你慢慢长大，你就能理解我今天说的话了。
We should show respect for the elder. 我们应该尊重长者。
Some elder people enjoy Beijing Opera immensely. 有些上了年纪的人非常喜爱京剧。
二、(not)as … as的用法
Cycling has become almost as popular as running in recent years. 近些年来，骑自行车基本上变得和跑步一样流行。

【拓展】 as … as 的常见用法
1.as soon as意为“一……就……”，引导时间状语从句。如：
I' ll call you as soon as I finish my homework. 我一完成功课，就会给你打电话。
2.as long as意为“只要……；长达……之久”。如：
As long as there is life, there is hope.留得生命在，不怕没希望。
3.as … as possible意为“尽可能……”。如：
Please call me back as soon as possible. 请尽快给我回电话。
4.as far as 意为“就……(而论)；尽……；至于(表示程度或范围)”。如：
We' ll help you as far as possible. 我们会尽可能帮你。
