I've been in many of the ... caves in the world和So more caves可知,这里作者是说他已经去过世界上很多洞穴。故选caves。
42. B。 Wind Cave National Park was a park I wasn't very interested in visiting的解释,作者对风洞国家公园不感兴趣,究其原因是他已经去过世界上很多最棒、最有名的洞穴。 下文中的seen other great caves也是提示。
故unimpressive(普通的,毫无特色的)符合语境。
44. A。 be happy to do sth.
45. C。由下文中的解释first come first served tickets和I had a lot of driving ahead of me可知,因为有其他的安排,为了先到先买票,作者早上八点整就“到了(arrive)”游客中心。
46. C。 故line up(排队,排成一行)符合语境。
I was sure to ... at the Visitor Center at 8 am sharp和I had a lot of driving ahead of me可知,作者早上八点整就排队买票,是因为他还有其他安排,不想“错过(miss)”出发最早的参观团。
52. A。 故challenge(挑战)符合语境。
53. D。 The caves themselves were OK和I may sound jaded可知,因为作者已经见识过很多非常棒的洞穴,因此风洞让他有点失望。
I had a lot of driving ahead of me可知,参观完风洞,作者还有驱车参观该国家公园的安排。
55. B。由上文中的see buffalo and other animals wandering around可知,因为下雨,作者没有在风洞国家公园“看到(see)”很多动物。
