形容词比较级与最高级
1.定义：形容词比较级就是将二者进行比较产生的词形，是由形容词原级转化而来；相对二者的比较，还有三者及以上的比较，这时就产生了最高级。
2. 形容词的比较级、最高级的规则变化
类型 变化规则 原级 比较级 最高级
单音节 形容词 (1)大多数单音节词，直接加-er或-est small smaller smallest
(2)以e结尾，直接加-r或-st large larger largest
(3)以辅音字母结尾的重读闭音节词，双写末尾的辅音字母再加-er 或-est big bigger biggest
类型 变化规则 原级 比较级 最高级
双音节 形容词 (4)以辅音字母+y或ly结尾，把y改为i再加-er或-est happy happier happiest
(5)以-ful, -less, -ed, -ing结尾，在形容词前加more或most careful more careful most careful
多音节 形容词 (6)含三个或三个以上音节的多音节词，在形容词前加more或most interesting more interesting most interesting
3. 形容词比较级的用法
(1)形容词比较级的常见标志词为than，意为“比”。如：
In Jim' s opinion, he is cleverer than his younger brother. 在吉姆看来，他比他的弟弟聪明。
(2)比较级前可用a bit, a little, much, far, a lot, a great deal, even等来修饰，表示程度。如：
China is much larger than Japan. 中国比日本要大得多。
(3)“比较级+and+比较级”或“more and more+比较级”，意为“越来越……”。如：
Our country is becoming stronger and stronger. 我们的国家变得越来越强大。
(4)“the+比较级，the+比较级”，意为“越……越……”。如：
The more careful you are, the fewer mistakes you will make. 你越细心，犯错就会越少。
(5)“比较级+than any other+单数名词”或“比较级+than the other+复数名词”，意为“比任何其他都……”，用比较级代替最高级。如：
Lucy is taller than any other student in her class. =Lucy is taller than the other students in her class. 露西是她班上最高的学生。
(6)表示“……是两者中更……的一个”时，比较级前加定冠词the。如：
She is the older of the two girls. 这两个女孩中，她的年龄更大。
4. 形容词比较级的用法误区
(1)比较对象非同类。如:
错误：Your classroom is smaller than us.
正确：Your classroom is smaller than ours. (ours=our classroom) 你们的教室比我们的小。
(2)比较对象相包含。如:
错误：China is larger than any country in Asia.
正确：China is larger than any other country in Asia. 中国比亚洲其他任何一个国家都大。
(3)比较级前一般不能用定冠词the, 但如果比较级后面有名词，则要用the。如:
Which is the larger country, Canada or Australia =Which country is larger, Canada or Australia 加拿大和澳大利亚哪个更大
Jenny is the cleverer girl of the two.这两个女孩中,珍妮更聪明。
5.形容词最高级的用法
(1)最高级前要加the，常见标志词为in, of, among。如：
This movie is the most moving I' ve ever seen. 这是我看过最感人的电影。
My movements are the most graceful of us three. 三个人中，我的动作是最优雅的。
(2)“one of+the+最高级+名词复数”，意为“最……之一”，此时谓语动词要用单数形式。如：
One of the oldest houses has been burnt in a fire. 最古老的一幢房子在一场大火中被烧毁了。
