知识目标：Generally understand active learning and know about the main theme of each paragraph and add one subheadings for labeling them to enhance their comprehension.
能力目标：Master some key words and phrases.
情感目标：Let students understand they shall learn towards those athlete.

教学重点：Master some key words and phrases in the text.
教学难点：Enhance students’ comprehension about the text.
课前准备：多媒体，黑板，粉笔
教学过程：
一、Pre-class
1. Greeting
2. Leading-in
学生活动：教师在课堂上提出问题：Pair Work Discuss the questions. Use the phrases below to help you.
1). Which athlete do you admire most Why
2). What did they do to get to the top of the sport
to push oneself to the limits to give up everything for the sport
to live one's life to extremes to be willing to do the extra little bit
to be totally focused on the sport to strive for greatness
活动目的：引出本堂课要讲的话题，让学生们以讨论的形式来进行，提高学生们的学习兴趣。
While-class
1、学生活动：教师要求学生快速阅读文章后，回答下面的问题：
1) What is the article about
2) Is it from an encyclopaedia entry, an academic book or possibly a blog
3) Who do you think the writer is
活动目的：通过快速阅读，可以使学生们快速掌握所学文章大意，培养学生们快速获取信息的能力。
2、1）学生活动：要求学生仔细阅读文章的第1至4段，并完成下边表格，向小伙伴描述作者所处的境况。

The fears she faces on a daily basis
活动目的：培养学生获取信息的能力，同时也锻炼学生们的表达能力。
2）学生活动：要求学生基于自己所掌握的内容回答下面3个问题。

活动目的：以问答的形式来加深学生的理解，同时培养学生的归纳能力。
3、学生活动：要求学生阅读第5至8段，来阐述作者能达到人生的顶峰。可以要求学生们通过制作表格并以此来说一下自己的分析。
活动目的：培养学生的发散思维，多角度分析问题的能力。
4、学生活动：要求学生再次阅读文章，并回答下面的短语或句子在文章中具体指的是什么？
