Material analysis
This is the first English class for new students of Grade Seven. The purpose is to make students know the importance of learning English and cultivate students’ interest in learning English. Meanwhile, let students know some rules of English classes. The main activities are 1a,1b,1c and 3a,3b,3c.

Teaching procedures
Step 1. Greetings.
1.Say hello to students.
2.Make a self-introduction.

Step 2. The importance of learning English.
1.Show the pictures of my good friend who has been to many different countries, seen a lot of different scenery and has a lot of foreign friends.

3.How to learn English well.
Free talk and then share your ideas with the others.
Teacher makes students know about the rules for English classes.
3.Some class instructions.
Step 3. Letters Aa—Gg.
1.Show and call some students to read these letters so that teacher can know if they can pronounce right.
2.Look and imitate by themselves.
Ask some students to write on the blackboard, the other watch carefully. If there are some mistakes, they need to correct them on the blackboard.
3.Work in groups. Write these letters first, then exchange to see whose letters are written correctly and the most beautiful.
4. Listen and repeat.
Make sure everyone to pronounce correctly.
Meanwhile write down the corresponding phonetic symbols for each letter.
5.Do some exercises.

Ask one student to match on the screen, the others do it on their books, finally check the answers together.
Step 4. Conversations for today.

Play the recording. Students look, listen and repeat.
Practice the conversation in a group of four.
Call four students at random to act it out.
Make a new conversation with your own information
and share it in class.
Step 5. Consolidation.
Do some exercises.
Step 6. Summary.
Make a summary about what we’ve learnt for today.
