其构成为:How+形容词/副词+主语+谓语!

in a loud voice=in a high voice“大声地”
in a low voicev“低声地”

◆run away“逃跑,走掉,逃脱”。
◆dare在这里作情态动词,通常用于疑问句或否定句中。dare not意为“不敢”,后接动词原形。在肯定句中常用其实义动词的用法,后常接动词不定式。

frightened adj.“害怕的”,与afraid同义,常用来修饰人。
frightening adj.“令人害怕的,吓人的,可怕的”,常用来修饰物。
6.The poor children no longer had a place to play.
no longer=not…any longer “不再”,常用来修饰延续性动词,位于be动词、情态动词或助动词之后,实义动词之前
no more=not …any more也可表示“不再”,指做事的次数或事物在数量上不再增加,一般与非延续性动词连用。
7.The green grass was covered with snow,and the cold winds kept the birds away.
◆grass在本句中意为“草地”。
◆be covered with…意为“被……覆盖”,其主动形式为cover…with…,意为“用……覆盖……”。
◆keep away意为“(使)离开(或不靠近)”。
