This is a reading report on my favourite story The gifts by O. Henry.
This story has two main characters—Della and her husband Jim.
The plot is easy to understand. Christmas would be coming soon. Both Della and Jim wanted to buy a gift for each other. But they couldn’t afford. Della sold her beautiful hair to buy a watch chain for Jim and Jim sold his gold watch to

buy a set of combs for Della. Finally， they found that Della’s hair and Jim’s watch were gone. Their gifts seemed useless.
