Title of the unit Unit 3 The Earth Title of the lesson Protect the Earth
Class type Reading Period 1 Grade Seven A
Design Principles Based on the English Curriculum Standard, the general teaching aim is to develop the students’ abilities of reading comprehension. To achieve this target, we should pay more attention to arouse the students’ interest in the reading material, develop good reading skills,form the students’ leaning strategies,strengthen the cooperating abilitiesAs far as I can see, as a teacher, we should make full use of the teaching material instead of just teaching the text. We should find more relevant materials to help the students understand what they will learn better.
AnalysisonLearners The students have learned English for many years and they are used to junior high school life. They have the ability to understand a passage. And also they have learned some useful language structures and the knowledge about the environment . However, they are lack of vocabulary. Some students are not active in class because they are afraid of making mistakes. So I must try my best to help them recall what they have learnt and build their confidence in expressing their opinions in English.

Expectationsof the Teaching Results Students are expected to express some facts about the Earth in English. They are also supposed to grasp specific information in a relevant material. At the same time, they are expected to make a poster about Protecting the Earth by group work.
Procedures & Methods 1. See “Teaching Procedures & Class Activities” for details.2. The Task-based Approach, including question and answer activity teaching method, watch and listen activity, free discussion method and group work or individual work method.

Step 1Warming Up Listen to an English song and greeting.. A.Play the song Heal the world B. Greeting. 1. Warm up.2.Create pleasant atmosphere.
Step 2Leading in Task: Watch and answer. Watch a short video about the Earth and then answer the teacher's questions. A. Show the students the video.B. Give the students questions like "How is the Earth" and "What’s wrong with the Earth " 1. Lead in the new topic for this lesson.2. Think more about Earth.3. Arouse students’ interest.
Step 3Pre-reading Task: Brainstorm a mind-map about the Earth. Work in groups and exchange the information about Earth. Draw a mind-map about the Earth in groups and talk about their ideas about the mind-map. A. Inspect the group work to make sure they speak English and they are talking about the relevant topic.B. Encourage students to speak in front of others.C. Help them solve the difficult points. 1. Get more information about the Earth.2. Make them more active in talking about the Earth..3. Make students feel more confident in class.4. Enable them to cooperate and share opinions with group members.5. Solve the difficult points.
Step 4Reading Task: Individual work—Read the passage—Protect the EarthSkimming:Read the passage quickly and answer the questions.Scanning: Read again for some specific information and fill in the table on the self-learning plan.3.Read for language like field/large/provide with ...and then finish the exercise on the study plan A. Walk around and provide help when necessary. B. Ask a few students to retell some information about the passage in front of others. Anything is OK.C. Explain some words and phrases appeared in this passage. 1. Make students get the main idea of the passage.2. Learn to use new words and phrases freely.3. Solve the difficult points and important points.4. Practice scanning.
Step 5Post-reading Task: Retelling and making a poster.1. Retell the text according to the pictures and the key words.2. Make a poster about how to protect the Earth in groups . A. First, organize the students to retell the text according to the pictures and the key words. B. Give the students some help when they make the poster. 1. Train students to retell some things about the passage as many as possible.2. Learn to use what they have learned freely.3. Give the students more relevant information.4.Train the students' cooperation ability.
