Tang Poetry
Poetry in the Tang Dynasty (618—907) reached the top in the development of the poem. It’s worthy of its fame as Chinese culture. It’s an ideal mix of thoughts and art.
From the point of view of themes, those poems tell us about politics, wars, history, landscapes, street scenes, love and

Considering poets, we can find poets from emperors, officials, farmers, fishermen and even children. Two of the most famous poets we know are Li Bai and Du Fu. Poems of Tang Dynasty enjoyed the golden age because of the prosperous(繁荣)country and free rules.

The Song Dynasty (960—1279) showed another type of poetry at that time. It came into being in the Tang Dynasty and reached its top in the Song Dynasty. This type of poem is the same as lyrics created for musical accompaniment (伴奏) and the words of Ci had to match the rhythm of the music.
Ci, depending on its length, can be divided into xiaoling(small-sized, less than 58 characters),
zhongdiao(middle-sized, 59~90 characters) and changdiao (long sized, more than 91characters).
Each Ci has a title as well as a cipai which is the name of the musical style and decides the rhythm and form. The names of cipai, such as The Beautiful Lady Yu(《虞美人》)and Nian Nujiao(《念奴娇》) are created from famous people or events in history.
