the Past Continuous Tense:
◆结构:
was / were + V+ing
◆意义:
动词的过去进行时表示在过去某一时刻或某一时间内正在进行或发生的动作。
◆时间状语:
at this/ that time yesterday, at 9 pm last night, from…to… yesterday morning, when I came in (when引导的一般过去时态的句子)等等

相同点：(the same)

两者都表示过去发生的动作。
一般过去时表示过去一个完成的动作。
过去进行时表示过去正在进行的动作，可能没有完成。
