Analysis of the teaching material The gifts which was written by O.Henry describes a poor couple who sold their most valuable possessions to buy a gift for each other. Although the gifts became useless, they felt the deep love. The expressions in the story are not very hard, so in the first period, students should pay more attention to the comprehension and master the reading skills.
