While you visit the Happiest Place on Earth,I hope you don’t hear these two phrases—or the tour might be about to turn into a nightmare.
Disney World and Disneyland are well-known for being the happiest places in the world, but sometimes, some less than good things happen. When they do,staff have code words to let other staff know what has taken place without destroying your perfectly happy day with terrible details.
According to the New York Post, one of the worst things you can hear a cast member say at Disney World is a “White Powder Alert”.A “White Powder Alert” means that a guest has brought the ashes of their dead relatives in order to make the Happiest Place on Earth their final resting place.According to Susan Veness, author of Walt Disney World Hacks, this most commonly occurs on the Haunted Mansion ride. This is both illegal and can get you banned from Disney for life.
The second Disney code word you never want to hear: “E-stop”.This one is a bit more straightforward (直截了当的) and isn’t used just for Disney. In order to remain as perfectly clear in an emergency situation as possible, most amusement parks and fair rides use the same phrase. It means “Emergency Stop”.If a ride must be shut down due to a sanitary (卫生的) issue—like someone “protein spilling” or pouring ashes—or a safety issue,an E-stop is called and the ride is instantly shut down while park officials decide if the ride should be evacuated(疏散) immediately or simply paused for maintenance. No matter what code words are said, you’ll never want to hear a Disney cast member use these two phrases.
These two scary situations aside, there’s a reason Disneyland is the happiest, most magical place on Earth.

A.They make tourists know what’s the matter.
B.They try to make tourists have a good day.
C.They want to make bad things happen less.
D.They make communication more easily.

A.It is not used only in Disneyland.
B.It is not very straight forward.
C.It isn’t used in dangerous situation.
D.It describes a more terrible situation.
3.Who makes a decision to make a ride be paused according to the text
A.People repairing the machine.
B.People using code words.
C.People in charge of sanitary.
D.People in charge of the park.
4.What can be a suitable title for the text
A.Beautiful Disneyland That Is Attractive and Magical
B.Two Code Words That You Never Want to Hear in Disney
C.Some Emergency Cases That Happen in Disney Land

Children used to be able to play freely, exploring and interacting with the natural world with little or no supervision(监督) by adults. They were free to invent games of their own.Nowadays, however,we control the lives of our children much more, giving them fewer chances for free play. Many children in England used to spend hours playing on their bikes, having all sorts of adventures, but this is now considered too dangerous. Some working families can’t care for their children after school,so the children have to stay indoors or attend supervised after-school activities.
The result is that some children have little time for play any more and when they do it’s often spent in front of the television or computer. In the past, children in Brazil played a game which involves spinning (旋转) a large seed with a hole in it to create a scream-like noise. They rarely play this game nowadays.
Studies show that outdoor environments help all people by reducing stress and creating a general feeling of well-being.When children play in the open air, they are more likely to have positive feelings about each other.
Outdoor environments are also important for children’s development of independence. When playing outside, children can gradually increase the distance from adults.Adults are then more willing to trust their children,an important element in confidence-building which improves the relationship between children and parents.
Outdoors, children have more chances to use all their senses. They have greater freedom not only to run and shout, but also to interact with the environment.Activities which may not be allowed indoors are perfectly acceptable outdoors;children are free to play messy games out in the open air that just wouldn’t be permitted in the home.
Children experience the natural environment differently from adults.Adults typically see nature as background to what they are doing, while for children it is a hands-on experience. The expensive toys and indoor educational games cannot substitute for the experience of direct interaction with nature. They cannot replace the sensation where a child’s attention is suddenly caught by the sunlight through leaves or the gentle noise of water flowing by.
1.The author mentions a Brazilian game to show that .
A.it was common for children to invent games in the past
B.TVs and computers are more popular than outdoor games
C.Brazilian children used to play outdoor games
D.children seldom play outdoors nowadays
2.How do adults react when their children become more independent
A.They don’t control the lives of their children anymore.
B.They have more confidence in their children.
C.They want their children to stay indoors.
D.They experience less stress.
3.Which of the following can replace the underlined part “substitute for” in the last paragraph
A.Take the place of.
B.Be based on.
C.Be used as.
D.Get through.
4.What’s the author’s purpose in writing the text
A.To introduce some outdoor games.
B.To present a study on outdoor play.
C.To encourage people to interact more with nature.
D.To advise parents to let children play outdoors more.

Have you heard of an old saying “The grass looks greener on the other side of the fence” It means other places often look better, more interesting than the place where you live.“Let’s go to KFC for dinner and then watch some Japanese cartoons!” We all know it:More and more Chinese kids love American and Japanese food and movies. Some people worry that young Chinese are beginning to feel that way. They see young Chinese ignoring(忽视) Chinese culture and, instead, buying Japanese cartoon books, watching Republic of Korea’s soap operas and even celebrating Western holidays.
Foreign books and soap operas are good, but Chinese writers and actors are just as good.As for holidays,Christmas is nice, but it can never have the meaning for Chinese that the Spring Festival has,and the West has nothing to compare with the Mid-Autumn Festival.China has lots of cool things in its culture:calligraphy,Beijing Opera, quick meals on the streets. And let’s not forget the part of Chinese culture I like best:its friendliness. Not all countries are as warm as China.
It’s good to enjoy other cultures and learn from them, but they can never replace your own culture. It’s good to look on the other side of the fence, but make sure you take a good long look. You will find that the grass isn’t always greener.
Although some people become worried about that,I don’t think they should. Will we get more powerful without learning from other countries Will Chinese people live more happily without American fast food Besides,it’s fun to learn about different cultures.Chinese kids can learn about other cultures and have fun,but they also need to learn more about their own culture.Be proud of Chinese culture and of being Chinese!

Several years ago I worked in an international company selling computer devices. At the time I had to travel around the country as a part of my work.I remember clearly that I was at a stage of my life where I only cared about how to earn more money.
Once,I went to the airport to take a bus to downtown as usual. The routine was as follows: get into the city, take the bus to the hotel, visit the customer, work late, take the bus back to the airport and fly back...Somehow,that day I decided to take the stairs down to a different exit, where I found a beautiful garden I had never seen before.I waited there and enjoyed the scenery until the bus came.
I was used to the seat behind the driver. However, that day I sat on a seat in the middle and a boy was seated next to me and he was carrying a great many suitcases. He turned to me suddenly and gave me one of the most sincere smiles I had ever seen from a stranger. He said warmly,“Hi,the perfect day in the perfect place, isn’t it ”
I remember saying to myself—this must be one of those typical people who is young and just thinks everything in the world is beautiful and easy. Why was he annoying me when I just wanted to enjoy the bus ride But out of a politeness,I answered,“Really perfect!Did your dear parents pay for you to have some vacations on the beach ”“No,I don’t have parents and I’m not here for a vacation.” He shook his head instantly,“I’m here to achieve my biggest dream.Actually,I’m on the way to the army school where my grandfather studied a long time ago.”

“I lost my dad 8 years ago then my mom married again. My stepfather treated me badly and later he threw me out of the house.I’ve been living all over the country since then and I’ve learnt a lot from life through these years.Fortunately,I met a lot of kind people,” he said.Hearing his words,I was speechless and tears began to roll down my cheeks.Fortunately,he continued his story.
He told me that for 8 years,he had only one thing in his mind to join the army school like his grandfather.“My grandpa was a great general of the army and he left me this,” he said proudly, showing me a golden knife.“I have been following my dream these years and I’m happy every day.” When the bus reached his stop,he rose from his seat and took all his suitcases, saying goodbye with a big smile. From then on,I always try to do everything with my best smile on my face.
