A.判断该句是简单句、并列句还是复合句;
( 1 ) We took pity on the people in the disaster-hit area in Yushu and many students raised money for them.
( 2 ) Having suffered a number of health problems, former Olympic President Samaranch died on April 21 in Barcelona.
( 3 ) The Internet is an exciting tool that not only puts vast information at your fingertips but expands options.
a simple sentence
a compound(复合) sentence
a coordinate (并列)sentence
m
Schools across China are expected to hire 50,000 college graduates this year as short-term teachers, almost three times the number hired last year, to help reduce unemployment pressures .
1】What Winter knows of the 19 year old who saved his life is only that he died in a car accident and that his family was willing to honor his wishes and donate his organs for transplantation (移植).
【分析】 此句的主语为“What Winter knows of the 19 year old who saved his life”,是一个主语从句,其中主语从句里面又包含了一个由who引导的定语从句;is为主干
2】Pasteur discovered that heating the wine gently for a few minutes after it had fermented (发酵) would kill off the yeast (酵母菌) that was left in the wine, with the result that the wine would remain fresh for much longer.
【例3】The idea of returning to the basics in the classroom — a notion (概念,观点) which, incidentally (顺便说一下), has been quietly supported for years by many respected teachers — is finally gaining some currency (流行) with school administrators (管理者).
If you ask people to name one person who had the greatest effect on the English language, you will get answers like “Shakespeare”, “Samuel Johnson”, and “Webster”, but none of these men had any effect at all compared to a man who didn’t even speak English—William, the Conqueror.
Science has become so important in the modern world, with its procedures so highly standardized and so widely accepted, that it is included among modern social institutions.
Science moves forward , they say ,not so much through the insights of great men of genius as because of more ordinary things like improved techniques and tools.
Before 1066, in the land we now call Great Britain lived peoples belonging to two major language groups.
Only after studies provided evidence of the harmful effects of this program has it been possible to modify TV programming policies.
The professor marched into the lecture hall, placed upon his desk a large jar (罐子) filled with dried beans (豆), and invited the students to guess how many beans the jar contained.
【分析】此句正常语序为: ...placed a large jar filled with dried beans upon his desk ...
The magazine is male-targeting because young guys generally won’t pick up a magazine that appears to be directed at females, whereas girls usually will.
I can't accept this fact because I know that if I wasn't able to avoid a mistake, chances were that no other surgeon could have either.

The war finally came to an end ,but not before hundreds of thousands of people had died.
I look forward to seeing these views taken further, and to their being challenged by the other participants.
①When two cars travelling at 30 mh hit each other,②an unbelted driver would meet the windshield ③with a force equal to diving headfirst into the ground from a height of 10 meters.
先跳读修饰成分或附加成分,找出句子的主干并理解其意义;
