Unit 2 Cambridge is a beautiful city in the east of England.

1. 能够掌握本课新词汇:north, south, west, home town, be famous for, university, island, area, low, mountain, countryside, umbrella
2. 能够掌握本课重点句型:
(1) It …has a population of about 120,000.
(2) …so it is bigger and busier than Cambridge.
(3) It is never very hot in summer or very cold in winter.
3. 能够读懂介绍祖国、家乡的文章,了解文章主旨,并理解文章中的细节信息。
4. 能够参照范例,用所学语言简单介绍自己的家乡。

四、教学过程
Step 1 Warming up
1. Look at the picture and talk about the questions.
2. Play a guessing game.
【设计意图】通过关于家或家乡的名句激活学生关于家乡话题的背景知识,调动起学生的学习兴趣;通过猜谜游戏让学生初步了解四个方向的英文表达,自然导入本课话题。
Step 2 Pre-reading
Learn some new words and expression.
【设计意图】全班学习,个人学习到同桌学习循序渐进,为后面的学习奠定基础。
Activity 1
1. Ask Ss to look at the map and tell what it shows.
2. Ask Ss to read the four sentences, and repeat them chorally and individually.
【设计意图】旨在让学生通过看地图和读句子感知方位介词的使用,为理解下面的阅读文章作铺垫。
Step 3 While-reading
Activity 2
1. Ask Ss to read the passage and choose a title for each picture.
2. Ask Ss to read Para. 1 & 2 and Para. 3 & 4 carefully, finish different tasks and check answers.
Activity 3
1. Ask Ss to look through the table and make sure they understand what they have to do.
2. Ask Ss to read the passage again in detail and complete the table on their own.
3. Ask Ss to compare their answers with their partners, and then elicit answers in full sentences from the whole class.
【设计意图】训练学生对细节信息的理解及提取主要信息的能力,让学生看清任务,带着问题读文章有针对性地找出答案。
Step 4 Post-reading
Fill in the blanks and retell the passage.
Activity 4
1. Read through the words and expression in the box with Ss and check that they understand the meanings.
2. Ask Ss to complete the passage by themselves and discuss the answers with their partners.
【设计意图】帮助学生巩固本单元所学的重点词汇。
T explains some language points.
Activity 5~6
1. Read through the questions with the class.
2. Ask Ss to answer the questions individually in notes.
3. T shows some possible answers taking Dalian as an example.
4. Ask Ss to use the notes to write full sentences to the questions in Activity 5.
Activity 7
1. Look through the requests and try to understand what they will do.
2. T analyzes the writing skills and guides Ss how to write the composition.
3. Write a passage called My home town.
4. Let two students share their writings to the class.
