一、教学目标
1. 能够掌握下列词汇和短语:research, baby, situation, scientist, produce, southwest, government, set, nature, develop, feed, symbol, in order to, set up, nature park
2. 能掌握以下重点句型:
Scientists are doing a lot of research to help pandas produce more babies and help baby pandas live.
In order to protect pandas in the wild, the government is setting up nature parks and developing other plans.
The nature parks will be big and there will be more bamboo to feed the pandas.
3. 能够读懂有关濒危动物现状的文章,明白文章的主旨大意和谋篇布局并获取细节信息。
4. 能够模仿课文的写作形式,写一篇介绍某种濒危动物的现状的短文。
5. 能够意识到环境保护的重要性,增强进行环保宣传的责任感,关爱地球上的濒危动物。

重点:
1. 掌握本课重点单词、短语和句型。
2. 读懂有关濒危动物现状的文章,明白文章的主旨大意和谋篇布局并获取细节信息。
难点:模仿课文的写作形式,写一篇介绍某种濒危动物的现状的短文。

四、教学过程
Step 1 Warming-up
1. T describes the animal and lets Ss guess what it is.
2. T asks Ss to say what they know about pandas.
【设计意图】通过猜谜游戏和自由讨论活动,让学生了解熊猫的相关知识,充分调动起学生的学习兴趣,自然导入本课话题。
Step 2 Pre-reading
1. Read the words and expressions in the left column, and then match them with the Chinese meanings in the right column.
2. Check the answers together, and then ask Ss to read the words and expressions twice.
【设计意图】学习新词汇,为下面的学习奠定基础。
Step 3 While-reading
1. Read the passage and match the headings with the paragraphs.
【设计意图】培养学生对文章段落大意的获取能力。
2. Read Para. 1~2 and answer the following questions.
3. Read Para. 3~4. Then check the sentences and correct the wrong sentences.
【设计意图】训练学生对细节信息的理解及提取主要信息的能力。
4. Find out the infinitives as object complements and adverbials of purpose.
5. T lets Ss complete the sentences.
【设计意图】加深对含有动词不定式的句子的理解,掌握新的语言结构。
Step 4 Post-reading
1. Fill in the blanks and retell the passage.
【设计意图】通过复述文章提高学生的口语表达能力。
2. Learn the language points.
(1) Scientists are doing a lot of research to help pandas produce more babies and help baby pandas live. 科学家正在进行多项研究,以帮助大熊猫繁殖更多的后代,并帮助大熊猫的幼仔生存下去。
(2) In order to protect pandas in the wild, the government is setting up nature parks and developing other plans. 为了保护野生大熊猫,政府正在建立自然公园并制定其他的计划。
(3) The nature parks will be big and there will be more bamboo to feed the pandas. 自然公园占地面积大,会有更多的竹子用于喂养大熊猫。

3. Complete the passage with the words in the box.

4. Look at the pictures and talk about them.
5. Choose an animal in danger and answer the questions.
6. Have Ss write a passage following the model passage and the notes they made in Activity 5.
7. Ask them to exchange and read their passages, and correct any errors.

8. Let Ss do some exercises to consolidate what they have learned.
