Grammar: when, while, as引导的时间状语从句的用法
1. when意为“当……时候”。所引导的时间状语从句既可以指时间点，也可以指时间段，引导的从句的谓语动词用延续性的或瞬时性的都可以。如果主句用过去进行时、从句用一般过去时，则表示一个动作正在进行的时候另一个动作（突然）发生了，强调后一动作发生的突然性。
e.g. She was cooking when someone knocked at the door.
她正在做饭，这时有人敲门。

2. while引导的时间状语从句只指时间段，从句的谓语动词必须是延续性的，并强调主句和从句的动作同时发生（或者互相对应）。
e.g. Jim was doing his homework in the classroom while we were playing football yesterday.
昨天当我们在踢足球的时候，吉姆在教室里做作业。
Don’t talk while you are eating.

3. as表示“一边……一边……”，as引导的动作是延续性的动作，一般用于主句和从句动作同时发生；as也可以强调“一前一后”。
