On a wild mountain, two goats met on a road just over a high cliff (悬崖). The road was so narrow that there was neither room for them to pass each other nor to turn round and go back. What do you think the two goats did
One of them with great care lay himself down on the narrow road, pressing as close to the rock as he could. Then the other goat softly walked on his friend, till, safely past him, he could lightly jump away.
The goat that had lain down then stood up slowly from his place, safe and sound, free to jump again from rock to rock, and enjoyed the sweet grass on the hills happily.
However, two other goats met on the banks of a rushing river. A tree had fallen across the river, and became a bridge from one side to the other.
The two goats looked at each other, and each wished to pass over first.
They stood for a while with one foot on the tree, each thinking that the other would turn back. But neither of them would give way, and they met at last on the middle of the narrow bridge!
They then began to push and fight with their horns (角), until at lastmtheir feet slipped, and both the goats fell into the running river.
Both might have been saved, if either of them had known how to give way at the right time.

Movie-making factories are called studios. Like all other businesses, they have to follow the rules of good business. There is a person, called “the top man”, running the studio. He is usually someone with a powerful personality. His power of character is necessary so that the“boss” can deal with famous stars and rich investors(投资者).Some movie stars can only contract(签合同) with one studio. They cannot work for another. Big studios like Columbia, Fox, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer are the most important movie-making companies in Hollywood.
Making a film takes a long time and is very hard work. Writing the story for the film needs many weeks. Shooting a film often takes at least six months. Actors and cameramen work from very early in the morning until late at night. Each scene has to be acted and reacted, filmed and refilmed, until it is just right. Sometimes the same scene has to be acted many times.
The film studio is like a large factory, and the indoor stages are very big indeed. Scenery of all kinds is made in the studio. Churches, houses, castles, and forest are all built of wood and cardboard(纸板盒). Several hundred people work together to make one film. Some of these people are actors and actresses. The director of the film, however, is the most important person in a film studio. He decides how the scenes should be filmed and how the actors should act.
Most people go to see a film because the film stars they like are in it. Sometimes the film may be very poor. It is best to choose a film made by a good director. Some famous directors make their films very real. People feel that they themselves are among the people in the film.
