第一课时
教学目标
1.学生能够通过不同任务的听读活动,理解课文。
2.学生能够正确读出本课课文中出现的单词,并会表达自己的生日。
3.学生能够运用本课重点句型 When is ____’s birthday It’s ____ . 询问并回答生日的日期,并能运用句型完成调查活动,以及作相应的汇报。
4.学生能够通过图文对照活动,理解旁白内容。
5 培养学生相互关心、关爱,和互相帮助的思想品质。
教学过程
Step1. The text.
1. The first time to read.
T: Today, we will learn Unit 4.
Mocky, Ken and Ann are talking about their age and birthday.
Please you read, try to find:
“How old is Ken How old is Ann How old is Mocky
T: How old is Ken
S1: Ken is eleven years old.
T: Good!
T: How old is Ann
S2: Ann is ten years old.
T: You are great!
T: How old is Mocky
S3: Mocky is four years old.
T: You read so carefully
2. T: Now, Let’s look at the screen, Oh, there’s a gift. Whose gift is it
S1: It’s Mocky’s gift.
T: Is it Mocky’s birthday
S2: Yes, it is.
The teacher writes the topic “Mocky’s birthday.” on the board.
Read the Unit topic together.
3. Key sentences.
T: Birthday. My birthday is in spring. It’s February 19th
.Let’s watch TV again, this time, you could find out the answers of your group.
Group 1 , your question is “ When is Ken’s birthday ”
Group 2 , your question is “ When is Ann’s birthday ”
Group 3’s question is “When is Mocky’s birthday ”
Did you remember your question Let’s begin!
(Have the students watch TV again.)
Then show each picture of the questions to help students say theanswers.
T: Group 1. Who can tell me When is Ken’s birthday
S1: It’s March 12 th .
T: Group 2. When is Ann’s birthday
S2: It’s September 19 th .
T: Group 3. When is Ken’s birthday Who can try
S3: It’s October 25 th . This month is October. Today is October ….
.The teacher writes the sentences down.
At the same time , model the words: March, September, October, have the students repeat.(read together twice, read the word one by one, choose two or three students.)
4. Main points.
T: Oh, I’m sorry. It’s a little messy. At the beginning , Mocky said: Happy birthday, Ken. But at last, Ken gave the gift to Mocky. Why You could answer in Chinese.
( Have the students read the text by selves silently. )
S1: Mocky forgot his own birthday.
(Teach the words: forgot→forget→remember)
The opposite of forget is remember.
5. The words of the months.
T: Mocky forgot his birthday. Did you remember your birthday
My birthday is in spring. (Show a picture of spring.) It’s February 19th.
( The teacher write “February” beside the picture.)
Let’s play a game. Find the same month birthday friends. At first,let
me help you.Whose birthday is in February Stand up , please
.( Have the students stand up whose birthdays are in January.
Have these students read the words after teacher. )
Use the same method for the other months.
6. Practice the key sentences.
T: My birthday is February 19th .
It’s February 19th .When is your birthday?
(Have students try to say their own birthday date. )
(4 students)
Step2: Survey.
T: Please make a survey in your group. Find out the paper of survey.
It can help you. Please you do it like this:
S1: When is your birthday
S2: My birthday is __________ .S2: When is your birthday
S3: My birthday is __________ .When you stand up, please tell us S1: S2’s birthday is ___________
(Have the students make a survey in group. When they finish, have them report the their finding. ) (two group)
Step 3. The narrator.
1.Number the sentences.
T: Please read the narrator quickly, number the sentences.
Have the students read the narrator by selves, then number.
T: (Ask the first student) How many sentences
S1:Sixteen. If you agree with him, please sit well.
2. Make the sentences of narrator to be corresponded with pictures by group.
T:Now,I made the pictures of text for four groups
.(Show 4 groups of pictures to students.)
(Picture group 1: P1.) (Picture group 2: P1 .)
(Picture group 3: P2-7.) (Picture group 4: P8.)
Please try to find out which sentences described the pictures
T: Picture1, which sentences Which group could read
S (one group together): It was a sunny day yesterday. Mocky went to Ken and Ann’s house. He had a birthday gift for Ken.
T: Good! Your group did a good job!
Use the same method for the picture group 2 .
T: Picture group 3, so many pictures, which sentences describe the pictures
Ask students to read the sentences, which sentences describe the picture group3. Each student read one sentence. (Sentence 5-13)
T: The last picture, let’s read the sentences together, ok (Sentence 14-16. Read the sentences together.)
Step 4 summary
1. T: Which part do you like best Ss answer.
2. Today we learned the words of month. (Read the words of months together.)
We can ask the date of the birthday with: When is your birthday
T: When is your birthday Ss:My birthday is ….
T: Mocky forgot his birthday. But he tried to remember his friends birthday. So at last, he was happy, because he got the gift. Try to remember your friends and parents’ birthday, and don’t forget to say happy birthday to them .
