Unit 4 An old man tried to move the mountains

Ⅰ.Teaching Materials:
SectionA部分的主题是中国民间神话故事。主题图呈现了女娲补天、后羿射日、大闹天宫、愚公移山四个家喻户晓的神话故事。本部分以中国神话故事为主线,要求学生能够听懂用英语叙述的这几则故事,并能根据故事的相关信息发表自己的观点,模仿和运用语言。1a-2d以愚公移山的故事为教学内容,从听说读写让学生学习讲述故事,在讲述过程中恰当使用连词。
Ⅱ.Teaching aims:
1、Knowledge aims:
1).Know the words about Chinese ancient stories: shoot, remind, once upon a time, as soon as, keep on doing, etc.
2).Tell the story: Yu Gong Moves a Mountain.
2、Ability aims:
Use self-learning, pair work and Role—playing to learn to tell a stoy.
3、Moral aims:
Different people have different opinions when read the same story. One story has many different sides.

Ⅳ.Analysis of students:
The students of Grade Eight are very clever. But some students are afraid of making mistakes and short of confidence. For the countryside students, they will be afraid of speaking English in class and will not be active in class, but this lesson is about illnesses, pains, and how to give advice to others. it is helpful to raise learning interests of students. Today I will design several activities for the students in different levels to help the students to take part in the class activities. I hope the students will be confident and can express themselves actively.

【设计意图】通过让学生通过一个圆形头脑风暴回顾中国传统的神话故事和国外经典童话故事并尝试翻译这些故事的名称,使学生初步了解本节课的内容,激发他们用英语讲述故事的学习兴趣和热情。
Step2【讲授】Presentation
Look at these pictures,students could say Chinese names of these stories, the teacher shows English names.Try to find out the spelling.
【设计意图】利用图片逐步呈现经典的传统故事,了解一些故事名称的英语表达方式和简单的故事介绍,为他们用英语表达中国故事奠定基础。
Activity 1. Finish 1a
【设计意图】通过呈现故事的图片,让学生完成1a的任务。同时让学生更多地了解一些中国传统故事的英文表达法。
Step3【讲授】Tell the beginning of a full story
Task 1: Pre-listening. 1b Listen and answer the questions.
【设计意图】通过 1b听力让学生了解大概,为后面讲故事的开头做好准备。
Task 2: Listening 1c Answer three questions and tell the beginning of the story.
【设计意图】自己设计填空听力让学生了解如何进行《愚公移山》故事开头的讲述。
Step4【活动】Tell the rest part of a story
Task 1. Pre-listening. 2a .Predict the numbers of the pictures. Listen to the tape and number the four pictures.
【设计意图】运用多媒体的直观性,通过对图片的观察预测故事的进展,并通过听听力对故事发展有个大概了解。
Task 2. 2b Listening. Listen to the recording and finish two activities .
【设计意图】听力材料以对话的形式呈现了《愚公移山》故事的英文版。通过听力练习,学生完成两个听力任务,听力任务是自己设计的,分出了故事的development 和 ending及the moral。训练学生理解所听语段的主旨要义;训练学生获取事实性具体信息。
Task 3: Post-listening Group work. Tell the story in a chain.
【设计意图】学生使用思维导图和关键词,用自己的语言再次呈现故事的背景、起因和发展。训练学生运用相应的语法,恰当的词汇和句式完成口头回答问题的任务。
Step5【练习】 Role play
Role play the story .
【设计意图】通过角色扮演,让学生理解故事中人物情感变化,对故事有更深刻的理解。
Step6【测试】Discussion or Educate the moral part of the story

【设计意图】 让学生继续谈论听力内容,并提出自己的看法。训练学生尝试使用所学语言表达自己的真实想法,逐步从模仿语言过渡到运用语言。
Step7 【展现】Play a role in this story
【设计意图】挑选几名同学表演愚公移山的故事,在课堂上呈现一个5分钟以内的小情景,注意动作表情的表达,以此激发其他同学对今后所学其他故事的兴趣。
