Unit 1 We’re still influenced by Confucius’s idea

1. 掌握以下词汇:

Step Ⅰ Warming-up
1. Free talk
Ss look at the pictures, and then have discussions with their parterns and talk about what books they have read.

设计意图:通过谈论耳熟能详的名著名人引入本课话题,吸引学生兴趣。
Step Ⅱ Pre-listening
Activity 1
1. T shows the pictures of Confucius, Shakespeare and Mark Twain and then puts Ss in pairs to talk about them.
T: Work in pairs. Say who the people are and why they are famous.
(Possible answers: Confucius was a great teacher and thinker in ancient China. William Shakespeare wrote plays and poems about 400 years ago, but people still can see his plays and read his poems. Mark Twain was an American writer and his works are studied in schools.)
2. T plays the recording and asks Ss to check their answers.
设计意图:学生对图片中人物进行描述,为听力训练做好准备。
Activity 2
T plays the recording again and asks Ss to complete the sentences.
设计意图:进行听力训练完成补全句子,培养学生辨别信息、捕捉重要信息的能力。
Watch and answer
Ss watch a video about Mark Twain and answer the questions.

Step ⅡI While-listening
1. Ss listen and choose the correct answer.

2. Ss listen again and answer the questions.

设计意图:让学生带着问题听,提高学生听的效率。通过听力练习题目的设置,让学生获取对话主要内容和一些细节信息,锻炼学生快速获取信息的能力。
Step IV Post-listening
Activity 3
Ss read the conversation and match the people with the descriptions.
Role-play the conversation
设计意图:通过回答问题帮助学生加深对对话的理解,再通过角色扮演,让学生巩固对对话的理解的同时,为完成下面活动4做准备。

more... than...在本文中指“与其说……不如说……”。
2. ... and Shakespeare’s plays also make a lot of sense to us today. 莎士比亚的戏剧现在对于我们来说也仍然很有意义。
make sense意思是“易理解;合情理;有意义”。
3. We’re still influenced by Confucius’s ideas. 我们仍然被孔子的思想所影响。(被动语态)
被动语态结构:主+be+ v.过去分词+( by+动作执行者)
设计意图:讲解语言点,使学生掌握本单元重点词汇的用法,并初步了解被动语态。
Activity 4
1. T asks Ss to read the words in the box aloud and make sure that they can pronounce the words correctly and understand the meaning of the words.
2. Ss complete the passage with the words in the box and then check the answers together.
设计意图:通过练习使学生掌握并巩固所学重点词汇的用法。
Activity 5
1. Ss read the sentences by themselves and pay attention to the words that should be stressed.
2. Ss listen to the recording and underline the words the speaker stresses.
3. Ss compare the recording with their own reading, and read again in a correct way.
4. Ss listen again and repeat.
设计意图:语音练习使学生掌握朗读中单词的重读、语调和规律,培养抑扬顿挫的语感。
Activity 6
1. Ss discuss the opinions in groups.

3. Ss in each group choose one member to report the ideas of their group to the whole class. They can begin with:
