Activity 2
1. Fast reading
Ss read the passage quickly and answer the questions:

2. Read the letter and choose the best summary of Steve’s problem.
设计意图:快速阅读,了解课文的主要人物和内容。
3. Detailed reading
T asks Ss to read it again and answer some questions.

Activity 3
1. T shows an outline of Diana’s reply and asks Ss to fill in the missing information.
2. Show the outline again and tell Ss to try to retell the reply.
3. T: Now let’s share. If you have any problems, be brave to admit your mistake and be honest with your parents and friends. If your friends have problems, give them some advice and be ready to help them.

Language points
T explains language points, giving some examples to help Ss understand and grasp the use of them.
1. The reason is that he thinks something will go wrong if I play games on it.
原因是他认为我要是在电脑上玩游戏的话,电脑就会出毛病。
go wrong 表示“出毛病,出故障;出错”。
2. He could no longer find the documents anywhere! 他再也找不到那些文件了!
no longer 相当于 not… any longer,意为“不再”,但两者在句中的位置不同。
3. …he will be angry with you, but at least you will show that you are honest.
……他会生你的气,但至少你能表明自己是诚实的。
be angry with sb. 表示“生某人的气”。
4. You should also pay the bill to repair the computer.
你也应该付钱修电脑。
repair 表示“修理”。
设计意图:讲解语法点和语言点,使学生掌握本单元语法和重点词汇及句子的用法。
Activity 4
1. Ask Ss to read the words in the box aloud and make sure they can pronounce them correctly and understand the meaning of them.
2. Ask Ss to complete the passage with the words in the box.
设计意图:词汇练习帮助学生记忆并巩固对重点词汇的运用。
Activity 5
Ask Ss to read the letter by Steve in Activity 2 and try to find:
1. sentences that say what Steve did and when
2. sentences that say what happened next
3. sentences that say what the problem is
4. Steve’s questions
Activity 6
1. Ask Ss to think of a problem they have, then write a short letter to Diana about the problem. Tell them they can use the steps in Activity 5 for help.
2. T shows a model composition.
Activity 7
Ask Ss to work in pairs and read each other’s problem letter.
T: Suppose you are Diana and write a reply. Give your advice.
