  Elizabeth Taylor was one of the 20th century’s greatest film stars for her acting ability and her beauty, especially her violet eyes and black hair.
  Elizabeth Taylor was born in London in 1932. Her parents were Americans. In 1939 the Taylors left England and moved to southern California.
  Elizabeth’s beauty soon caught the attention of some film studios. She made her first film, There’s One Born Every Minute, at the age of 10. This was followed by Lassie Come Home a year later. But the 1944 film National Velvet made her a star.
  During her lifetime, Elizabeth Taylor had three Oscar nominations. She earned the Oscar for the 1961 film Butterfield 8 and the 1967 film Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf. Elizabeth got over one million dollars for her work in the 1963 film Cleopatra. She was the first actress to get one million dollars in the history of film.
  Elizabeth spent much of her time working on her charity projects. In 1993 she won a special Oscar for her humanitarian work. In 1985 she helped create the American Foundation for AIDS Research. In 1991 she started the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation. The organization now helps people around the world living with AIDS.
  Throughout her life, Elizabeth Taylor faced many health problems. On March 23, 2011, she passed away in Los Angeles at the age of 79. As a Hollywood superstar, Elizabeth Taylor is remembered for her beauty and her great Hollywood film roles.
