Teaching Procedures Content Purpose
Step 1 Warming up Show some pictures and let the students guess “ What happened ” and can talk about the earthquake in Chinese. Lead in the new lesson.
Step 2 Listening Pre-listening Tell the students something about the earthquakes in the history of China.While-listening Quiz 1: Listen to 1a and mark ( T ) or ( F ).Quiz 2: Listen again and fill in the blanks.Quiz 3: Listen to 2 and fill in the blanks. Task One:Learn something about serious earthquakes that happened in ChinaTask Two:Do listening exercise to improve listening skills and know about the contents of dialogue between the students and Miss Wang.
Step 3 Retelling Post-listening Retell 1a with the help of the mind-map. By retelling, let students practice their speaking skill.
Step 4 Acting out Enjoy the pictures of the nature, then let the students express their own ideas with degrees of adjectives. Do some exercises to make sure whether students can express their feelings with degrees of adjectives.
Step 5 Discussing Work in groups and talk about how to protect ourselves from disasters, such as earthquake, snowstorm and so on. Then let one or more students make a report on the topic. Let students find out ways to protect themselves from the disasters.
