Do you often listen to music at loud volume(音量) Over one billion(十亿) young people are at risk of hearing loss(失聪) because of listening to loud noise for long periods of time. Listening to music or watching a TV show at loud volume is harmful to your hearing.
The United Nations has standards for safe listening. It is not safe to listen to sounds that are louder than 85 dB(分贝) for eight hours or 100 dB for 15 minutes. The sound of a busy road is about 85 dB and the sound of a rock concert can be about 100 dB.
Loud noise is harmful to the inner ears(内耳). Most of us are born with about 16,000 hair cells(听毛细胞) in our inner ears. However, listening to loud noise for a long time can make these cells work too hard and cause some of them to die. This is what causes hearing loss.
Some people might think that their music isn’t all that loud. But this can depend on where you are. For example, if you are in a noisy place like the subway, you might turn up your music too loud without realizing it. Later, when you listen to it at the same volume in a quiet place, you might feel uncomfortable.
The World Health Organization said the “safe level” for most sounds is below 80 dB for up to 40 hours a week. A level of 80 dB is roughly equal to(大约相当于) the noise of a subway.

Peking Opera has a history of more than 200 years. It was listed as a form of intangible cultural heritage(非物质文化遗产) in 2010.
Peking Opera mixes different art forms, including singing, dancing, acrobatics(杂技) and martial arts(武术). All these art forms are put into one performance. Facial painting(脸谱) is one of the most important signs of Peking Opera.
Peking Opera is a kind of ancient Chinese art. But few of today’s young people know much about it. Famous Peking Opera artist Wang Peiyu wants more young people to fall in love with the art.
Wang hosts(主持) a weekly talk show called The Wang Peiyu Peking Opera Show. It started to show on iQIYI on March 27, 2020.
On the show, Wang explains Peking Opera through different subjects, such as how to prepare for a show, or something interesting about the art. She explains how to put on clothing and make-up. Artists often spend much money on their clothing. It’s said that a set of clothing worn by Peking Opera master Mei Lanfang once cost about 70,000 silver dollars. This would be 3.5 million yuan in today’s money.
To make everything easy to understand, she uses simple language. She tries to use modern slang(现代俚语), such as “freestyle”, zihei or zichao.

How would you feel if moving to a new town meant losing track of your friends What if the only way of getting news from faraway(遥远的) friends was writing letters that took ages to be delivered(递送) This was how things worked not very long ago. Thanks to advances in technology, how we make friends and communicate with them has changed greatly.
Nowadays, we can move around the world and still stay in touch with our friends. Social media tools (社交媒体工具) let us see what our friends are busy with and maintain friendships.
The digital(数字) age also enables us to find people who share our interests. Whatever our hobbies are, the Internet can connect us with others who also enjoy doing them, even if they live on the other side of the world.
But when you “friend” people online, does this mean that they really are your friends It depends.
If people always exchange true personal information online, then yes, these friendships can be real and meaningful. But we need to remember that what we see on social media is often not the whole truth about a person. Sometimes smiling photos can hide real problems. On the Internet, nobody knows you’re a dog. A young person could be old; a woman could be a man; we could even be sharing our information with criminals.
But this doesn’t mean that we should throw the baby out with the bathwater. Although technology has changed the way we acquire(获得) friends, the meaning of friendship and our longing for friends remain the same. As Aristotle said, no one would choose to live without friends, even if he had all other goods.

It not only makes us get knowledge but also opens our minds, makes us get the feelings of happiness and makes our lives colourful. Second, we should read good books. We should choose proper books that can improve ourselves as well as thinking while reading. Third, we should love to read.
