Step 1 Lead-in 1. Show some signs about public rules, traffic rules and get Ss to say out the meanings and try to write down some key rules. Summarize the common ways to make rules. No+Ving / n. Don’t+V原. You can’t /mustn’t/ aren’t allowed to… 2. Work in pairs and write some rules for the school bus. Give them some ideas to help. Talk about the rules in pairs like the following: —First, don’t make phone calls on the school bus. —I think this one is not very important… Step 2 Six basic tenses 1. Show each of the basic tenses on the PPT. Get Ss to say out their structure one by one. Give out some special uses of the tenses. 2. A1: Complete the sentences with the correct form of the words and expressions in the brackets. Call back answers from the class and get them to say why. 3. Show more exercises to consolidate the tenses. Step 3 The adverbial clause 1. Show different kinds of adverbial clauses on PPT. Get them to translate them correctly and pay attention to the conjunction words. 2. A2: Complete the sentences with the words or expressions in the box. Call back answers from the class by having them to read and translate the sentences. Check the answers with the class. 3. A3: Complete the passage with the correct form of the words and expressions in the box. Check the answers with a partner. Call back answers from the class by having them to read and translate the passage. Check the answers with the class. 4. A4: Get Ss to read the sentences in the box one by one and translate them. Get Ss to complete the passage with the sentences in the box. Check the answers with the class and tell why. 5. A5: Complete the sentences with your own ideas. Share the sentences with a partner. Ask some of them to share their sentences with the class. Step 4 Homework Finish the homework on the Exercise Book A. Read and revise the new phrases after class.

How long will she stay in China Does she know anything about China 2. Read the three replies Tina’s friends sent her and answer: Where did Hongmei / Fanxing / Weiwei suggest Tina would go Why did each of them think so Encourage them to give the answers with their own words. 3. Get Ss to read the emails and explain any problem for the class. 4. Discuss places you would suggest for Tina’s visit and give your reasons. Get some pairs to share their discussions with the class.
