Summary
The rules of forming the “-ing” form of a verb:
1. Add “-ing” to most verbs directly.
2. Drop the “e” and add “-ing” when the verb ends with a silent “e”.
3. Change “ie” to “y”, and then add “-ing” for the verbs ending in “ie”.
4. Double the last consonant and then add “-ing” when the words are
short and end in a vowel + a consonant.
