It’s reported that twenty-one online video platforms had introduced an anti-addiction system(防沉迷系统). This system aims to protect teenagers and make sure of their healthy development.
Three short video platforms—Douyin, Kuaishou and Huoshan, have already started the anti-addiction system since March, 2022.
Under the system, when users open an online video app for the first time each day, a pop-up window(弹窗) will direct them to a teenager mode. The mode will limit the users’ online time and access(查阅的权利) to video content.
Since the system was introduced in March, 2022 , around 460 million users have received daily reminders, and 52.6 million of them have chosen the teenager mode.
At the same time, video platforms are asked to improve their monitoring of the uploaded video content. They should offer users films, TV series and videos of quality and educational content. The official says that the anti-addiction system will also be used in online live streaming platforms(直播平台) in the future.
