I Teaching Goals:
i Language Goals:
1. To make sure Ss can master the expressions as follows:
here, of, photo, next, picture, girl, dog
2. To make sure Ss can circle the names and complete the sentences after reading the article;
3. To enable Ss can use the key sentence patterns correctly:
1) Here are two nice photos of my family.
2) These are my parents.
3) In the next picture are my brothers.
4) Coco is in my family, too.
ii Ability Goals:
1. To help Ss get the information through reading the article;
2. To improve Ss’ ability of reading comprehension;
3. To enable Ss can write a short article by using the target language.
iii Affective Goals:
1. To foster the spirit of teamwork;
2. To cultivate Ss’ relationships with their family.
II Text Analysis:
This is the fourth period of this unit. It’s a reading and writing class, so Ss should be given more opportunities to practice their skills of reading and writing. Since Ss have learned to identify people in English, this period will be a transition from words and sentences to passages. After the process of reading the article, Ss will be able to write a short passage by using the target language.
The article is written by a girl who named Jenny. She introduces two nice photos of her family. There are too many names are mentioned in the article, so it is necessary to ask Ss to circle the names while they are reading. Circling the names will help Ss get the information quickly. After reading and extended exercises, Ss will have the ability of introducing their own family, and also their interest of writing will be raised.
III Key and Difficult Points:
1. Get the useful information by reading the article;
2. Use the target language to write a short passage.
IV Teaching Procedures:
Teaching Steps Teacher’s Activities Students’ Activities Purpose
Step 1. Leading in and Review Greetings to Ss;Play a guessing game;Show Ss a picture of family tree; Greetings to the T;Speak out the answer as quickly as possible;Look at the picture and identify the people in the picture; To shorten the distance between the T and the Ss.To review the key points, and to bring Ss into the atmosphere of English.To review the key words and to be a steppingstone to the new class.
Step 2. Pre-Reading Show the pictures in 2b, and ask Ss three questions:①How many people can you see in the first picture ②How many people can you see in the second picture ③What else can you see in the second picture Look at the two pictures and answer the T’s questions:①Four.②Four.③One dog. To lead Ss predict the content of the text.
Step 3 While-Reading 1. Lead Ss to read the text after the recording and circle the names in the article;2. Asks Ss to read the text by themselves, and complete the sentences;3. Ask Ss to fill in the blanks while reading the text;4. Point out the reading skills;5. Ask Ss to finish the exercises of the extended reading. Read the text after the record and circle the names;Read the passage again and complete the sentences; 3. Read the text and fill in the blanks;4. Digest the reading skills;5. Finish the exercises of the extended reading. To pave a way for Ss to finish the further exercises.To train Ss’ skills of getting the details.To emphasize the useful expressions. Step 4Post-Reading Introduce T’s family to Ss by showing them a picture.Ask Ss to draw a picture of their own family and give some suggestions when they introduce their family to their partners.3.
