The first period
A. Pat is making a birthday calendar. Koko is talking to her. Listen, look and say.
Presentation
1. Bring in a large wall calendar in English.
2. Show the pupils the wall calendar. Say This is a calendar. Point to each month. Tell the pupils This is one month. Show the pupils and read aloud the names of the week from Sunday to Saturday. Count the seven day’s name. Then ask the students How many months are there in a year Ask them to say after me the names of the months in order. Tell the pupils to use ‘and’ before the last item in the list.
3. Show Transparency. Play the Pupil’s Book Cassette and point to the speech bubbles. Ask the pupils to repeat after the cassette.
Practice
1. Read the conversation between Pat and Koko. Ask the pupils to repeat the conversation after me. Let them finish reciting the names of the months by themselves.
2. Ask the pupils Which month is it What’s the date today
3. Ask the pupils to act the conversation.
Play a game
Throw the twelve months into confusion and ask twelve students to catch one and put them in order.
Homework
Recite part A.
Copy the months’ words and sentences in part A.
