Unit 1
Last Friday, we went to visit Guangzhou Museum on our school bus. It is in Yuexiu Park and it has a history of over 90 years. In the museum we saw a lot of historical pictures and objects, such as cannons of the Qing Dynasty and tablets. The tablets are made of stone.
After visiting the museum, I had a greater understanding of Guangzhou, including its history and its culture. I am proud of Guangzhou. I will try to make it a better place.
Unit 2
We plan to hold an English Corner in our class. I made a survey to see how my classmates think of it. 70% of my classmates think it is a good idea. They think the English Corner can make their school life more colourful. They can also learn something new. What’s more, they can practise their oral English. However, 30% of my classmates don’t think so. They say they don’t have time for the English Corner because they have too much homework to do. Some of them can’t express their ideas in English well, so they don’t want to speak English.
In my opinion, the English Corner is helpful to us because it is a good chance to improve our spoken English.
Unit 3
In order to know whether surfing the Internet is good or not, we held a debate in our class last Friday. 55 per cent of the students think that the Internet is very helpful. They think they can search for information on the Internet and it is helpful for their studies.
However, 45 per cent of the students have different ideas. They think that getting online not only wastes time but also wastes money, because many students play computer games on the Internet.
But I think every coin has two sides. We should get on the Internet to search for information for studies instead of playing computer games too much.

My favourite invention
As we all know, there are many inventions in the world. They are changing our world and our ways of life.
My favourite invention is the computer. As a student, I can do many things with the help of the computer. First, with the computer, l can find lots of information I need. I can read books on all subjects and know the latest news. Second, I can watch movies, play games or listen to music when I am tired. In addition, it is easy to communicate with my friends. I often chat with them through WeChat and QQ.
I think in the future, the computer will be more and more useful to everyone.

Vincent van Gogh
Vincent van Gogh was born in 1853 in a small village in the Netherlands. He began to work in 1869. He used to be an art dealer and a preacher. Around 1880, he decided to be a painter. He produced over 2,000 works of art. But his life as a painter was not easy. He sold only one painting during his lifetime, so he couldn’t make enough money to support his life. In 1890, he ended his life.
Today, a painting by van Gogh can sell for millions of dollars. Some of his paintings are now among the most popular art works in the world.
