教学目标与核心素养:
知识目标:Generally understand active learning and know about the main theme of each paragraph and add one subheadings for labeling them.
能力目标:Master verb + verb -ing/infinitive structures.
情感目标:Let students understand it’s important for them to become an active learner.
教学重难点
教学重点:Master and grasp verb + verb -ing/infinitive structures.
教学难点:Find the subtle meanings and ideas of the topic difficult to understand and explain.
课前准备:多媒体,黑板,粉笔
教学过程:
一、Pre-class
1. Greeting
2. Leading-in
学生活动:
向学生们提问What do active learners do 让学生们积极回答问题。可以使用以下短语。
to take notes to focus on to ask questions
to reflect on to pay attention to to be curious
to be open-minded to listen to a different point of view
活动目的:引出本堂课要讲的话题,引起学生们对本堂课学习的积极性。
2、 While-class
1. 教师活动:
对于之前提到的问题,延伸出新的问题:Do our brains learn by themselves How can we become active learners 要求学生阅读课本第52页的第一段。
活动目的:要求学生对准备要学的文章有个初步的了解。
2. 学生活动:通过对第一段的了解,思考并回答下面三个问题。
1) What do most people believe about the human brain Is it true
2) What is active learning
3) What is Kevin Daum going to talk about in the article
活动目的:让学生们学会独立思考问题的能力。
3. 教师活动:让学生们快速阅读课本52页的文章,把下面的副标题写在对应的段落。

·Get to the truth
·Listen to the outer voice
·Focus on the message
·Argue with your inner voice
活动目的:让学生们掌握归纳文章大意的能力。

1. Listen to the outer voice
Reasons
教师活动:向学生们解释文章中每一段所要讲述的一条积极的建议,并要求学生第二段的第一条积极建议,完成上表。然后依次类推,完成其他积极的学习建议。
活动目的:让学生们把握阅读文章、分析文章的技巧。
5. 教师活动:以小组讨论的形式让每一组学生选择一条建议并最终派代表把本组的结果介绍给其他同学。
活动目的:锻炼学生的团队合作能力以及论述的能力。
三、After-class
根据以上的一些步骤来回答以下问题。

There are many things we can do to become better learners. We all have two voices. Our inner voice tells us personal opinions and our outer voice deals with others' opinions and things we have heard. One of the best ways to promote active learning is to ask questions. This helps you 3 gain more knowledge about a topic.4 in a word, we should never stop being curious.
